I am very disappointed of the place. I booked the place based on the reviews and the photos that were posted on the website but it wasn’t accurate at all. I do not recommend this place at all. I didn’t had breakfast as it was delayed and the rooms weren’t clean as expected and as shown in the photos. I didn’t use the pool at all, it doesn’t look clean.

Next came Botanical Gardens (eg. Mahamwna Uyana), then lakes at the edge before agricultural lands (paddy fields). I have just stayed for a day because I didn’t want to spent around 25 dollars for the ancient cite. But I have walked around and prayed in Siri Maha Bodhi Tree area which is a massive and fascinating place! I have visited some other places such as Isurumuni Royal Temple and even sat down in front of the meditation stone and meditated there for a bit and it’s a very chanting place to be!

The old city and temple complex is huge and takes a long time to walk around. In many parts you are not allowed to wear shoes or hats, so if you don’t want burnt feet, take some socks and wear sunscreen and carry water.

1) No hot water in the shower.

2) A whirring / drilling noise that kept me up all night, perhaps coming from one of the hotel pumps / generators from above. When I enquired about this at reception I was told that “the hotel was full” and my questions as to what it could be were rebuffed with a “goodnight”.
3) There were no batteries in the remote for the tv.
4) Which didn’t make much difference as the tv didn’t work anyway when I swapped out the batteries for the air con.
5) The air con worked but didn’t turn down meaning that I had to constantly turn it on and off.
6) The swimming pool had safety issues in that the side of the pool had a suction hole which sucked people in if they got close. Thankfully it was only me that discovered it and not the kids.
7) our drivers quarters were full of cockroaches and he was asked to give up his fan for a “guest” half way through the night.
Beautiful hotel in a great location for anyone who wants to experience what Anuradhapura has to offer. The staff is very attentive and friendly. The breakfast was included with our stay and we opted for the Sri Lankan style breakfast. It was so delicious and we ordered the same for the second day as well. Overall a very positive experience and I highly recommend this hotel for anyone wanting to spend time in Anuradhapura.
It has been a lovely stay at hotel White House with great food. The rooms are beautifully themed with enough space to stay comfortably. The staff had been very friendly with exceptional service. Specially Ajantha and Sharadha have been very friendly and attentive. We shall recommend it for everyone who wants a good place to stay in Anuradhapura.
First hotel in Sri lanka and it's by far our favorite. Family business, the owner is really friendly, speaks good english and gives you lots of informations to do at Anuradhapura. You can rent bicycles for visite the temples. The food is simple and sooo delicious. The air con is working good and the room is cute and tiddy.
Your service is excellent. Very convenient in every way. Hotel room is very suitable. Very good relaxing experience between the breeze of Tisa lake and Basavakkulam lake. Friendly and kind service is very good. Thank you very much for an unforgettable experience in Anuradhapura trip.
This is very pathetic hotel , when we arrived to anuradhapura the hotel called me that they dont have room, and i have to find another place for my stay . Very bad and irresponsible staff
