Great hidden gem.
Great hidden gem. Highly preserved and diverse Roman temples. The stone of The Pregnant Woman. The Shia Shrine of Khawleh (great interior and you don’t have to be a Muslim to go in, but dress code is strictly maintained).
Great food, our favorite was a diamond shaped dough with fresh seasoned meat at the center. It is freshly baked/cooked right in front of you in small, hole in the wall, bakeries usually located right next door to the butchers in the bazaar to keep their meat fresh.

You go to Baalbek for the archeological site, which is magnificent. There is not much else to see - a Roman quarry, and an almost wholly destroyed temple site (to Mercury) on the hill- it can be done in a day trip from Beirut
