Nested at the foot of some attractive hills. You can visit the 2 main temples. There is the indoor Market with a lot of Chinese retail. There is a good sized undercover food market. The Chinese influence is growing. Not much else to see here, in my opinion. There is Nam Kat outside the town, which is a sumptuous resort for the far better off. In the centre is the Museum which has been stripped of about 80% of it's exhibits, the labels are still on the wall very sad. But if you have to be in Muang Xai enjoy the slower pace :-). It's all walkable.
