We came to trek the National park, when booking your treks ensure you ask distance and route. We did this and booked. We walked twice the distance and didn’t follow the route advised. Please be mindful of this.
The road out of the National Park is a dirt track and not a road. It is very dangerous and narrow in places with horrendously big drop offs to the side, that has no crash barriers.
An unnerving passenger experience.
The night market is small but packed full of products and tasty food. There are local delicacies too.
Personally I would avoid the @Dokchampa Hotel, it was unbelievably filthy with phlegm on the walls, we received a partial refund and stayed in the @Tuliphotel.
The Tulip Hotel modern & tastefully decorated hotel, 7km from the centre, the hotel offers a taxi service for a small fee. I highly recommend The Tulip.
We had wanted to kayak but visiting in February meant the weather had been too dry for too long and the river levels were very low, so not possible.
For the same reason we missed out on any magnificent waterfalls, which I’m sure are there, in the wet season or just after it.
We did not experience any burning season, February 12-16 2924

Clean large room with good WIFI, shower and close to attractions, restaurants, mini mart and ATM. The room is bigger than indicated on Booking.com and this was appreciated. English is spoken by one of the staff members and both onward travel and tours can be arranged through the hotel. The hotel is located in an area that's quiet at night and has excellent views from the rooftop. The staff are very helpful, friendly and made our stay very enjoyable.
location was good- not a massive amount to do in luang namtha, but it is close to the night market and a restaurant called Lais place which is nice.
we booked our jungle trek/ kayak through Si who works for discover Laos and bases himself at the hotel- he was great!
staff were friendly and stored our bags when we stayed overnight in the jungle
Difficult to rate the hotel as the area in which the hotel is located has been indundated with floods...the entire ground floor has been under water....the room has been cleaned...but not the outside..the kitchen is out...no breakfast or food. Im surprised that Booking described as the last room available....I'm the only guest there...
The staff helped us to book a jungletrekking. That was very nice. He also booked train tickets for us to our next destination which was very nice. We also had some souvenirs that we wanted to send to another hotel where we would go. He also helped us a lot with that. The service was very good.
The hotel is new and very clean. The rooms are spacious, and the bed is very comfortable. Having the restaurant next to the hotel was also convenient, and the food was good.
