I would also recommend Phet the host as a tour guide if you plan on visiting THE PLAIN OF JARS.

Lovely family run guesthouse. They picked us up from the bus station free of charge. Explained everything to do around the area and then provided the service for a day trip according to what we wanted. Young was a wonderful guide and driver and also took us to the Vietnam border for a fee, when we left.
Great breakfast served when you wanted it also.
