Quiet, peaceful location right on the river. The restaurant on the property is excellent and the staff are very kind and accommodating. They also offer reasonably priced private tours of the surrounding area, we had a great time.

This will be probably the only real and true review you may read about this place (except for a detailed one posted on google by a guy 8 months ago that unfortunately I just saw after being to the place). The whole place looks from outside an abandoned hotel direct from the movie The Shining!!!! All windows are kept shut, probably because the renovation was done on the cheap and they are hard to open and close. There is nothing to do around it. i was lead to believe it was in the middle of park for hiking - it’s not. My fault probably… so be aware. The only facilities are a big dining area and a jacuzzi outdoors. No comfortable garden furniture available to relax and enjoy the view. The bedroom was clean and renovated nicely so i spent most of the time there. The staff was helpful to my request of reducing my two night reservation for only one. Internet was really good and staff kind.

Kampot is a fantastic place to visit. We have seen Angkor Wot several times and wanted to see a new part of Cambodia. So glad we made that decision. Kampot has the charm of Siem Reap 10 years ago before it was overrun with developers. The river is amazing and so many places to explore close to Kampot. No hassling to buy things, no same-same markets with same-same souvenirs. Real and authentic Cambodia.

Hotel Old Cinema justifies a trip to Kampot by itself. The town has some charming old streets of shop houses and a relaxed vibe. Some great food. We'd read it was popular with expats but found these to be largely single white men aged between 50-70 which was sad. If you can look beyond this there are some great country areas to explore from the town and you must kayak or paddleboard the Green Cathedral. And stock up on souvenirs at the cutest shop in the world "Little Kampot Pillows".

Kampot is awesome.
Kampot is awesome. Rent motorbike and spend one day in Bokor hill, second around the waterfalls by walk to the top, see the town in the evening, go to Kep to National park and dont forget one day for caves, lake and pepper farm. We love it.

Wow, what an awesome spot. La Plantation is an absolute must!!! Bokor Mountain has a special place I'm my heart as I got to see Gibbons up there and also if it's going to be a really hot day the Mountain is a great place to escape the extreme heat. Kep is also a must for fresh seafood - we enjoyed Kimmys. Kampot we went Kayaking around the Green Cathedral so cool. We had lunch at The Hideaway. If you have time in your itinerary add another 2 days. It's really a special place. We spent 5 nights and felt we could have easily done another 2 nights.
We got around easily with a scooter and the Tuktuk is always around.

It is definitely worth staying longer, renting a motorbike and exploring the area, beautiful views, beautiful rice fields, I recommend visiting pepper farms and national parks, there are great street food stalls in town... beautiful salt plantations… Perfect city architecture

Transport around Kampot is easy and cheap, Pass app. has more range than Grab. Bokor NP is amazing. Pepper plantation is worth a visit. Go for a swim at Kep, and eat at the crab market. Visit Starbucks, you might hate the over marketed US rubbish but the building is great. The cooking class at Kampot Seafood and Pepper was gold. If you want to go somewhere don't use all the cascading marketing sites, find a tuk tuk driver that speaks your language and organise your own trip. TripAdvisor etc broker trips that have ridiculous costs.

Really nice hotel, the rooms are really comfortable . The staff is beyond amazing, they helped us organise excursions, they ordered us tuk tuk when needed and the best part is that they organized a personal cooking session for us because we wanted to explore the Cambodian cuisine and they even printed out a certificate for cooking for us. They did everything to make the stay better . I highly recommend this hotel and its services
The hotel is located in a great area, separated from the city and has a great Mountain View. All the preparation is wonderful, so beautiful, cleaned, classic and full of nature. The front desk is very friendly and helpful. I would recommend you 100% if your want to spend your holidays in Kompot
