La Villa, hotel in Battambang

La Villa features an outdoor swimming pool, garden, a terrace and restaurant in Battambang. With a bar, the 4-star hotel has air-conditioned rooms with free WiFi, each with a private bathroom.

Lovely staff, and a HUGE room in French Colonial style with two terraces, one over looking .the river. There were great breakfast options (Cambodian or Western available and cooked fresh to order). The pool was fantastic, as were the poolside drinks. The onsite restaurant was also great and had many options. I would happily stay again.

Battambang is a smaller, quieter town compared to where we had been. It appears to be a fairly poor town and still coming to terms with rubbish management. We caught the boat from Battambang to Siem Reip which is thoroughly recommended if you’re able to do 7.5 hours on a very simple boat. The river villages are really interesting and the boat stops for some deliveries on the way

I LOVED THE CITY ~~~THIS IS A REPORT ON BATTAMBANG I SENT TO PEOPLE BACK HOME. Battambang (last syllable pronounced bong); what a crazy city it is. Crazy but intriguing. The roads are mostly gravel and potholes. The pavements are building debris, litter, dog poo and cars and scooters parked. The evenings it is lit up like a poorer and worse taste Vegas, music pumping out from empty bars. Hundreds gathered in groups doing a form of jazzercise, all fully clothed in regular everyday wear, no Lycra. And everyone of them looks as miserable as I would if I had to exercise. Last night I had a trip advisor recommend meal in an Italian restaurant. Divine. Gorgonzola cream sauce over meat filled ravioli and 1/2 litre of the house red. It truly was a delicious dinner. I am due to be picked up by a tuk tuk driver, taking me on an afternoon tour. We will be riding a bamboo train, no I don’t know what that is either, climbing a hill to see where thousands of people were thrown from during pol pot reign and going to watch 15 million bats fly from the trees at sunset. Yes, Battambang is crazy, intriguing and I am loving it.

You can't help but love Battambang.

You can't help but love Battambang. Battambang is underrated as a tourist destination. Travelled by train to Phnom Penh which was straight forward and very insightful. Enjoyed everything from the circus, the bat caves, the fruit farms, the bamboo train, the people. No remorks were available on Grab but really would have been welcome_ saw very few of them in the city centre. In a house that’s over one hundred years old, we met the humanitarian photographer Joseba Extebarria who presented some of his best portraits from around the world and constructed the “HUMAN Gallery.” Furthermore, twenty percent of the proceeds go directly to the “Wings for the Future” project, supporting the education of children in the nearby town of O’mal. An amazing chap! Well worth the visit. The only problem in the wet season is that shops shut up between 8pm and 9pm that's if they even open!

It's an ideal spot to stop by on your way to Bangkok from Siem Reap (or the other way around). The city is calm enough, albeit really cute, and you'll have some must-seen places all around if you're up for a hike or a visit in your afternoons.

We found Battambang to be very friendly and could have spent a few more days here happily. The markets are lovely, there are many excellent cafes with perfect coffee (the Lonely Tree and Heart Coffee), the atmosphere in the town centre is very enjoyable. We loved the trio of tourist attractions: bamboo train, batcave and Phnom Sampou. This was a perfect place to unwind after arriving in Phnom Penh a few days prior!

Battambang has changed a lot since I've been here way back in 2018. There's a beautiful promenade that is inviting for walking, jogging or strolling. There's also a spanking new road that leads to the city from Phnom Penh. Never experienced any bumps along the road.

3rd floor room had a balcony overlooking the street with plenty of sky. Check the room before accepting it/specify in your booking cos some look the other way to a wall. Good facilities for the low price: bed comfortable, wifi worked, electric kettle. Even a swimming pool and pool table. Location is good, a minute from Virak Buntam and Go Ho buses,Lucky Supermarket/ Bounce cafe. Easy to get to Phare circus (the best thing in Battambang), river etc.

Royal hotel was in an excellent location to explore Battambang and made our stay comfortable. The room was spacious and clean with a good air con and fan. We also enjoyed the addition of a good, working fridge which has been hard to come by in Cambodia. The staff were friendly and helpful upon arrival. An excellent affordable hotel for a few days in Battambang. The bathroom had all amenities and was clean with a decent shower.

Lay and his lovely family were the perfect hosts who made us feel so welcome during our time in Battambang. The room was beautiful and the hotel was in the perfect location, very close to everything you need but also very peaceful and quiet. We forgot to mention that we had the best nights sleep here, the beds are so comfortable! Wishing Lay and his family the very best for the future :)

A real boutique hotel gem, in traditional Khmer style. If you are looking for authentic experience this is your choice in Battambang, the owners and staff were simply great and it felt like being an home guest. Cuisine is excellent and we were also invited to their Christmas Eve dinner next to the pool.
