This is the most wonderful place, full of history and character and charm, owned by the same proud family for centuries. The onsen water is free flowing (gensen kakenagashi) and is deliciously hot and pure. I would suggest visitors read a bit about the ryokan's history (on the website) and the history of the Taira-Minamoto Wars. There is a Heike-themed historical village nearby, good to visit. The food at the ryokan is excellent. It's Heike-style, using local-sourced ingredients.
Set just 48 km from Nikko Station, Hotel Yunishigawa features accommodation in Nikko with access to an open-air bath, a shared lounge, as well as luggage storage space.

Breakfast, snacks & dinner was all inclusive, including alcohol beverages. Food was good and its buffet style. Onsen pool is great as well. There is an outdoor & indoor pool. Its not recommended if you are planning to do 1 night stay due to it being secluded. Its 55mins bus ride from kinugawa onsen station and you get off at the end stop. Hotel is right next to the bus stop. Perfect winter escape if you love the cold.
Offering views of Kinugawa Valley, Kinugawa Park Cottage provides adult only accommodation with free private parking. Free WiFi is available throughout the property.

Did not eat there, it was too expensive.
So we cheaped out and went to the 7-11 just across the street.
