Yutorelo Tsuwano, hotel in Tsuwano

Situated in Tsuwano, 1.6 km from Taikodani Inari Shrine, Yutorelo Tsuwano features accommodation with a garden, free private parking, a shared lounge and a terrace.

Walkable from Tsuwano station. The reception staff were very kind. As a solo traveller I prefer to get a plan with breakfast and dinner and I enjoyed the diverse and delicious meals at Yutorelo Tsuwano. Each meal has great variety and menus don't repeat from day to day so you get the opportunity to eat different food. I enjoyed the free tea, coffee, snack and drinks offered in the "cafe". As for sight-seeing in Tsuwano, the town presents the sites with a range of ukiyo-e pictures to show the historical landscapes and townscapes and we can see what remains today. A lot of the town is well preserved from the Edo period. Both the Inari shrine and the Tsuwano castle involves some hiking so the hotel's shared onsen bath is a treat to come back to after a day of exploring. If you are a day-tripper you can leave your luggage at the kind bike shop in front of the station and cover the town by pedal power. If you come on weekends you can catch the old steam train which runs from Tsuwano to Yamaguchi

Noren Yado Meigetsu, hotel in Tsuwano

Noren Yado Meigetsu, a property with a garden, is set in Tsuwano, 1.9 km from Taikodani Inari Shrine, 1.7 km from Tsuwano Joushi, as well as 37 km from Ikoji Sesshu Garden.

Tsuwano is a fascinating historic town in the mountains of South Western Honshu. It now has a brand new train station which is probably less quaint than the old one I read about. Noren Yado Meigetsu was fabulous! We were greeted by our hostess and directed to the parking next door. She attended to our every need upon arrival and the women in our group were invited to dress in yukata for dinner. It was so special because she helped us dress with a properly reinforced obi too! Dinner was an amazing array of delicacies, including matsutake mushrooms because we were there in autumn. Breakfast was huge and traditional. The onsen tub is small, essentially private, so needs to be booked and was very pleasant. Sleeping is on traditional futon in a very quaint tatami room. The ryokan is beautifully maintained, and our hostess waved us off the next day. Highly recommended.

My stay in this guesthouse was the best experience in Tsuwano! Our hostess made us feel like home! She suggested me how to spend my time while in Tsuwano, taking in consideration my preferences. I also had a welcome gift and a warm cup of tea when I arrived. The breakfast was carefully prepared with high quality ingredients, and the common area was lovely with a beautiful view to the village and the cute garden.

Peace INN HAGI, hotel in Tsuwano

Situated in Hagi, 23 km from Ikoji Sesshu Garden, Peace INN HAGI features accommodation with a terrace, free private parking, a restaurant and a bar.

The room was very clean and the staff very welcoming and helpful despite us not speaking Japanese. They also made extra effort when they realised we did not eat meat by providing some sushi and sashimi. The open bar was a hoot. We stayed 4 nights and drove around to see a number of local attractions. My husband definitely had fun on the Space Invaders machine! Lovely view from our window / balcony towards a small bay.

For tourists looking for an authentic ryokan experience, the Noren Yado Meigetsu can't be beat. Shoji screens, tatami floors, and soft down comforters -- but with modern toilet, shower, and soaking tub made our stay wonderful. The host family is also extraordinarily kind and helpful explaining how things work and what ingredients are in each dish or how to cook certain dishes at your table. And the meals are delicious and beautiful! Our stay in Tsuwano was made especially memorable by the family who run the Noren Yado Meigetsu ryokan.

What a pleasant Staff at the Noren Yado Meigetsu Ryokan in the small mountain town of Tsuwano. The rooms are large for Japanese standards, properly cooled (if wanted) and have all facilities required. It has a very comfortable public bath, that can be used privately . The breakfast is one of the best I have ever had in Japan. A true Ryokan experience in the mountains.

The hotel produced a wonderful vegetarian menu for one of our party for the three day stay. Food for the 3 non-vegetarians was also exceptional with extensive 8-course menus. The onsen bath on the top floor was very relaxing. The hotel room was well appointed and very tasteful. Staff were very attentive and helpful to foreigners as well as Japanese guests.

Yes, the inn, rooms and garden are unique and artistically beautiful. Yes, the futons are comfortable and breakfast is exquisite. But it was our welcoming hostess, Kanaka, who made our stay so special. We so enjoyed sharing two days of joy and laughter with her, at her guesthouse in glorious tsuwano.
