A perfect retreat out of people's way. The room was really nice. Kind of a tiny home I'd like to live in. The sunset view of Mogami river was stunning. We also got lucky to be there at the time of cherry blossom and there were a couple blooming tree in front of our balcony. The shower and bath view gave the perfect relaxation time. The yakiniku dinner set and breakfast were already in the fridge. We did move the table out to the balcony to enjoy our meal outside. The hotel(?) is also next to the end point of Mogami river cruise. So you can take the bus to the starting point and getting the full Mogami experience and back to sleep at this place.

The owner, Yoshi-o San was incredibly helpful. Although he doesn’t speak a lot of English (please note, this Rokyan isn’t for your regular tourist, but for someone who wants to get deep into japanese culture), he was keen to understand my broken japanese and even drove me to the ski slope when I wanted to go. The room was stunning with a REALLY comfy bed.

The dinnerstaff was amazing! So nice and really tried to connect. They work fast! They caught me off guard a few times. The food was absolutely awe inspiring. So much, so delicious, just wow! The environment is also absolutely awesome. In the middle of nowhere, gorgeous green mountains all around. The train arrives once every 2 hours which goes to show how calm it is.

We stayed on the 6th floor where we were able to see the Mount Gassan covered with snow. The staff at reception called Mr Ito was absolutely courteous and helpful equally Ms Hatta in the restaurant was was polite and hard working. By the way the breakfast we had in the restaurant was superbly presented and tasty.
