The host was just perfect: nice, welcoming, ready to help and give advice and local info.
The location is very remote: you have to organize to get food (there is a very small and expensive store at foot distance); awesome as there is a beach for snorkling as an extension of the mansion.
we went in mid december: off season; a bit cold; not perfect weather; but there nobody in the hole island.
we went there by bike from city center: 20 km; it requires a bit of muscle but doable for mmoderately fit people and the path is goregeous. Plus doing this around by bike is perfect

Staying at Minshuku Irayoi was a wonderful experience. The property is clean, charming, and a short walk from the bus stop and Shiraho beach, full of marine life. Free shower and laundry soap, washing machine and tumble dryer are also available, which is convenient. Outstanding meals prepared by one of the minshuku owners, who is also a local artist. Do make time for a chat with her and her husband, who are happy to provide tips and recommendations for things to do in the area, and who facilitate conversation with other guests if staying for meals.
