Location was great, walkable to the main area of shops and restaurants, as well as the remote island terminal. Parking space was simple and easy to use. During our stay a typhoon came through and management sent someone to make sure the property was prepped (close storm shutters, secure outdoor items, etc), and the person also answered questions about how the island functions (how long do shops stay closed, etc) during a typhoon which set our minds at ease.
On Ishigaki Island’s west coast, Beach Hotel Sunshine offers an outdoor pool, sun deck with sea views and 2 restaurants.

Beach Hotel Sunshine was what we expected--on the sea, nice pool, good communal baths, and large comfortable rooms. Some complained that there was no direct access to the beach--which isn't exactly true. There is a seawall, which given the nature of storms and such that part of the world, is a practical thing. However, there are steps down to the water and a small sandy beach. The grounds are nice and there is a deck to have dinner and watch the very nice sunset. Parking is easy (it is very good to have a rental car in Ishigaki--is quite spread out to get to various sites). The breakfast buffet is very good with lots of local specialties.

Lovely hotel right in the heart of the city. The rooms were large for Japan and the beds were very comfortable. Also a very clean hotel. The highlight is the buffet breakfast with a variety of food offered daily.
There’s no free parking at the hotel. The parking at the hotel is ¥100/hour. I suggest parking at the ferry terminal across the hotel since it is ¥50/hour from 20:00 to 08:00.
