It is like staying in the house of a friend. The futon beds were firm yet soft and cosy. We slept very well. Location is in a quiet neighbourhood and convenient if you have a car. Many eateries and convenient stores nearby. WiFi was strong and stable. Washing machine and kitchen is a huge plus.

The host was excellent. She took time with us when we arrived and let us try on traditional Japanese outfit. In the evening she even took us into the city to a local market to get dinner. Extremely friendly and courteous host.

It’s at a great location close to Kumamoto Castle and Sakura no baba Josaien. It’s also located near a streetcare and the sunroad shopping street. What set this hotel apart was it’s insanely kind and helpful staff. We had quite a few questions and the staff helped us happily and also in perfect english (not a must but always nice). They take care of the little things like when we came a bit later at night after having dinner the staff had apparently spotted us and opened a backdoor for us. When we accidentally had gotten only one towel the staff apologized and gave us a second one and immediately the next day we got everything double. For me the staff is one of the most important things!
