Gypsy Takashima has a welcoming atmosphere, a warm interior design, is conveniently located, with easy access to Lake Biwa by bike and the South Takashima train station and Lawson konbini by bike or foot. Owner Katsu is a great person, and the long stay guests are also both very kind. Bikes are left at the customer disposal without extra charge ! Owner helped me move my suitcase to my next accommodation, which was very kind.

The property was beautifully presented and spotlessly clean. Very spacious, comfy beds and just had a really nice feel about it. We enjoyed our short stay very much.

The son and mother running the guesthouse were wonderful. It's a beautiful location, and because it is fairly far from the station, the son picked us up in his van at the station. We did have to call him to get us (which we knew ahead of time), so it's important to have the capability to do so or otherwise arrange it with the guesthouse host. We thoroughly enjoyed the onsen at the hotel with included yukatas and our very spacious room (had a heater/AC as well!). The sheets and yukatas and towels were impeccably clean and pressed. The son and mother had a lovely cafe with free beverages downstairs, and they also had a wonderful breakfast we paid for in the morning. I feel this guesthouse is truly a hidden gem and highly recommend it to anyone considering it. Easily one of the best places I have stayed at in Japan. My husband and I were so charmed during the whole experience.

A spacious 2-level house, large enough for our little family of 3. Although we didn't get to meet with the owner but can feel he is kind and welcoming. The house has provided what we needed for the night - clean environment and well-maintained facilities. We slept on the tatami which is the traditional Japanese style bedding on the floor, also a very nice experience for tourists like us.
