Always a pleasure staying at Suminoe Ryokan. It is the second time we have stayed there. It is ideally located just short of halfway across the Shimanami Kaido cycleway. Pleasant helpful staff, comfortable traditional Japanese room.
Great to soak in the onsen after cycling.
Delicious seafood dinner and a healthy breakfast. Lovely to watch the sun set over the inland sea from your room.

We stopped here during our two days of cycling and were very pleased with the stay. The host (Sayomi) is so gracious to open up her home to cyclists. She also provides a delicious dinner and breakfast which is so important as there are very few restaurants along the way. This is a true homestay and we thoroughly enjoyed speaking with Sayomi over our meals with the help of google translate.

The house was way fancier than we expected, it felt like a private resort! Beautiful stone bathtub, a barrel sauna, a beautiful deck and fire pit, a gorgeous bathroom, and tons of lemons! The bedroom we stayed in felt like a traditional Japanese experience, with the tatami mats and sliding doors.
