Rurikoh, hotel in Kaga

Just 10 minutes from JR Kaga-Onsen Train Station on the free shuttle, Rurikoh boasts a 24-hour public bath, sauna, reservable open-air bath and foot baths.

The outdoor onsen is better than Hatori with beautiful autumn leaves and spacious. Therefore you can skip Hatori and stay at Rurikoh instead. The free snack wholeday was really good with lots of choices. Keep this going.

Yamanakaonsen Ohanami Kyubei, hotel in Kaga

Yamanakaonsen Ohanami Kyubei is offering accommodation in Kaga. Conveniently situated in the Yamanaka Onsen district, this ryokan provides a hot spring bath. Yamashiro Onsen is 5 km from the ryokan.

The partial open air onsen can be booked for no charge. It feels great to have a warm bath with the cold air. However you must check in early to do this or slots may book out. There are free activities such as matcha making, Dango making and Sake tasting. However you also must check in early to do this as activities close 6 pm. Luggage storage at front desk is available. Price is great for the room size and experience. The ryokan is very spacious especially the lobby. As it is far from town centre it’s very quiet and relaxing.

The onsen was totally Japanese in style and attention to detail, very relaxing and with a staff dedicated to providing the best service. They were attentive and helpful. The forest near the onsen was beautiful for hiking and contemplating nature. Loved it. I will definitely return and to the same onsen.

Onsen. Dinner and breakfast were superb. My kids didn’t quite like the traditional Japanese kaiseki meal but they like the ala carte menu. Breakfast has a wide selection of Japanese food and some western option like sausages and bread. Private onsen was easy to book and is a good option for family. Room size was great. Kids really love the experienced staying in ryokan style room.

Loved stepping away from all the busy tourist areas. Booked a private onsen which was needed from all the walking. Great chance to relax. Lovely walk by the river and cute little town. Definitely off the beaten track. Plenty of food offered if you are wanting to experience the traditional Japanese cuisine.

They prepared a vegetarian Japanese breakfast and dinner which was delicious and well presented. The facilities have character and were spacious and very clean. It was quiet and the private baths were generous in size and very clean. The staff was attentive and helpful.

The hospitality of the staff was amazing. We received the warmest welcome we’ve enjoyed so far during our (month) trip in Japan. Our room was nice and clean and the facilities of the hotel were good. Although the hotel is not brand new, it is very well maintained.

The rooms are traditional Japanese style. The staff is very kind ( especially the lady that made up my bed and the people of room service) The onsen is great and very relaxing. The free amenities are also great.
