This hotel is well located in the Miyanoura area. Since the public bath is closed we were upgraded to one of the ocean facing Western rooms. The room was very spacious with amazing views. The bed was extremely comfortable and the bathroom separate from the toilet was a nice addition. The staff were all lovely and helpful (though not many spoke much English so it is a lot easier if you know a bit of Japanese). The buffet breakfast had a great range of options and we also enjoyed a kaiseki dinner which was delicious. The nicest hotel we have stayed in during our Japan trip so far and would love to go back one day.

Very nice room and gives cabiny vibes when staying here. Hanging mat to enjoy the sunrise or sunset on the balcony. Great place to stay if you’re going to Yakushima. It’s also walkable from the ferry terminal in miyanouri but a car would be recommended.

Absolutely fantastic stay here. Only wish I had booked more nights. Immaculately clean and well looked after by the friendly and helpful owners. A short walk from the ferry terminal but they will pick you up and drop you off if needed. I also wish I'd booked to have food with them as Hitomi's kitchen looked super professional! (Although there are many good options in town). Highly recommended and will definitely stay here again when I get a chance to return to Yakushima.
Just 15 minutes from Yakushima Airport on the free shuttle, Tashiro Annex offers air-conditioned Japanese rooms with a private bathroom and river or forest views.

The staff were amazingly friendly and helpful even given that language was difficult at times, but google translate will get you through most conversations. We flew in and were met at the airport by their pick up staff, but be aware that check in is a strict 3pm time regardless of when you arrive, they will hold your luggage and you can spend the time exploring the area. It's a lovely river location with views either on the river side or the mountain side, we had a mountain view and loved waking up and being able to see the greenery outside the window. We travelled in rainy season, so expect lots of clouds, and rainy days during this time, very grateful for the sneaker dryer and laundry facilities.
Breakfast was included in our stay and was generous, traditional and set us up well for the day. Unfortunately, we didn't get to eat dinner as we were mostly disorganised (you need to advise the day before if you want to dine in the following night), but we expect that the food would also be similar in quality to breakfast.
This is a traditional Japanese hotel and we chose the traditional room - futon mattress on the floor that is packed up each morning and set up each evening by staff. The onsen was clean and water nice and hot, yakuta, slippers and shampoo, etc provided. As with a lot of more rural locations in Japan, the workforce is older, but the attention to guests is spot on, we loved meeting the cleaning staff each day and having a chat as best we could and we'd be happy to stay here again.
There is a small gift shop on site and hiking gear can be hired if need be, as well as organising bento box lunches. A Co-op store is a short walk away where you can pick up snacks and light meals and anything you may have forgotten and there is a bus stop out the front to take you to local areas. If you want to explore the island further, the hotel can help arrange car hire, or in our case we hired a local guide to take us around the island and go hiking.

Great location, perfectly functional AC and bathroom and shower were always clean. Washing machine was clean and worked well I appreciated it much. There was no dryer but since it’s summer clothes got dried out fast anyway.

It’s a beautiful wooden house near inakahama. Walking distance to Yokko valley, beaches and a bus station. The town was like out of Totoro movie, serene and scenic. I’d love to stay more if I had a chance.

A really nice traditional house. The sliding doors (shoji) and the floormats (tatami) made the place beautiful. The doors near the beds could open and there was a insect screen door. The view from those windows was amazing! A vegetable garden with green mountains further away. I was feeling like I was in a tent. It made me happy.
We rented a car at Yuko rental cars. That was very good and nearby.

Charming minshuku with super helpful staff and very many amenities eg free washing machine and dryer, good onsen, v good meals . My room was spotlessly clean and had a wash basin . The minshuku is about 40 min walk from the port though it’s also on a bus route . There is an Indian restaurant and a large supermarket within easy walking distance .
