Beautiful Japanese country house, we felt right at home! Akira and Rei made us feel so welcome, with a welcome tea and a tour of the house!
Our children absolutely loved the tatami room where lots of toys were provided. We would have loved to stay longer! We definitely recommend it!

It’s close to the halfway mark of the Shimanami Kaido (and a short walk away from an onsen!). The facilities are clean and spacious. The in-house dinner was also fantastic; there were several options available for diverse diets and the meal I had was absolutely delicious. This place made me feel well-rested and ready for another day of cycling! Highly recommend!

Absolutely everything!!! This place is magical. The host is so kind and has good vibes!! The view provides the scenery of ages past (be prepared to earn it for those who are walking or biking). Everything was clean. The bed I stayed in was very comfortable. The kitchen has some fun opportunities to explore (food and drinks for hire). The koi pond is worth visiting for a peaceful morning cup of tea. I made the annex my "wo-man cave" for some massage chair action after long days of bike riding.

Very accommodating staff, I made a last minute reservation for dinner as well and they were able to fit us in. Room was large and traditional bedding was comfortable. Breakfast was incredible. Would recommend to anybody doing the Shimanami Kaido or just visiting the area to stay at Sawaki.

Authentic vacation stay, amazing food, and extremely nice host. Everything was amazing she was nice and was very accommodating. I highly recommend it to anyone who wants a real home cooked meal and a rest stop during the shimanami kaido.

The island has a very slow pace. Great for relaxing. We came here on a motorcycle/fishing trip. The motorcycle part was great. The fishing part…. was difficult😩 Lots of chinu (black bream) around and big, but they were not interested in the lures we used. Saw some locals catching them with bait, so we will have to change our strategy next time! Also, squid fishing is quite popular.
One more thing, many restaurants only open for lunch or close/take last orders early so be prepared for this or you’ll be eating convenience store foods!🤣

We were involved in the 7 bridges bike ride over 2 days so we only stayed in Imabari for one night. If I was to do this trip again I would do it over 3 or 4 days in order to stay a little longer and explore.
