Great location for holiday, 15 mn drive from Hirado city. Our bedroom opened on a grand view over a lovely beach. We were well received. The Resort caters for large quantities of visitors and families and also offers glamping: the 5 onsen baths (inside, open-air, with view) make for a varied fun experience, the children's corner seems much appreciated. There is a coin laundry and a large shop. Easy parking.

We booked a family suite with balcony in the same block as the main onsen facilities - and it was amazing. A huge space with a table/dining area (low level), a couple of armchairs and table and two large comfy beds. I think that they are made up with extra beds/futons to take 4 people if necessary. The balcony wrapped around the space and looked over the village/town/parks and over the water. The room had nice touches like a water heater for tea, loose leaf tea and a teapot and cups and some welcoming sweets. The toilet space is small compared to the overall space but it's more than adequate and separate from the bathroom. The hotel is spread across three blocks with interconnecting walkways which I understand may not suit everyone but the lifts are efficient and it's easy to move around. The onsens (inside and outside) were lovely, had great views and everything you need including kimonos, towels and toiletries.

Breakfast was so awesome. The owner lady got up early in the morning and she prepared a Japanese-style breakfast with warm care. I was able to use the sauna even after the breakfast, so I had a pleasant meal and enjoyed the sauna. I left after enjoying a very good rest in hospitality that I can't feel anywhere else in Japan. The bedding in the room was comparable to a 5-star hotel. All the usable spaces were really clean and organized, so just looking at them made me feel good. The usable space is very large compared to typical accommodations in Japan.

I loved this place! It was right across from the harbor where you can catch boat that takes you around the 208 islands of Kujukushima. It was also just a beautiful place to walk. I loved the baths in hotel. Clearly they are older, but they were nicer, more authentic than ones I encountered in the modern hotels. The food, both for breakfast and dinner, was so special and delicious. Its an older place, with 1970s vibe so so expect something different, but it was very endearing. They also had an awesome, efficient beer pouring machine for happy hour!

Lots of great nature spots, including nice beaches.
Lots of great nature spots, including nice beaches. Many historic sites including a castle and some cool churches. Good food. You can spend a lot of time exploring this island - hiking, fishing, swimming, visiting museums, eating, and more. You'd want a car to get around the island, which I recommend highly, but if you don't have one there is still stuff in the main town to see and do on foot.

The weekend trip to Hirado was the perfect getaway, quiet and charming the town is the perfect spot to spend some time wandering around, hiking the olle trail, tasting great coffee and amazingly fresh seafood direct off the boat. While some of the sites themselves such as the Xavier Church and Castle are similar to things you'll find elsewhere in Kyushu, it's the atmosphere of calm that saturates the area and the views you get from the various spots and lookouts that you really go for. It's an easy enough place to get around without a car though that would certainly help for exploring further out of the town, A weekend was the right amount of time to see the basics though you'll definitely want to visit again.
