The ease of access for the Shinkansen was excellent,...
The ease of access for the Shinkansen was excellent, although this was a downside as this could be heard quite late into the evening.
A local supermarket was nearby (less than 5 minute walk from the hotel) and had fruit/veg to bread to hot sweet potato!
Downside apart from the slight noise from the train service would be the lack of things to do in the area, but this is made up for by travelling to other areas. Also, please check the local bus and train services for the last running service as returning to Gifu-Hashima (or any smaller station) can be a struggle if missing the last running service- it involved me walking 2 hours to the hotel!
