The owners were incredibly kind, and even drove me to the train station early in the morning when the taxi service they tried to order for me said they wouldn’t be open that early!

Kominka Guesthouse SENTŌ, hotel in Hanaishi

Just a 3-minute walk from Umemura Garden and 400 yards from Yakumocho Carved Wooden Bears Museum, Kominka Guesthouse SENTŌ features accommodations in Yakumo, with a shared lounge.

Beautiful house that has a large living room with a small kitchen and a big workspace in the second floor. Be careful, there are two entrances to the building, one leads to the cafe on the right and one to the guesthouse on the left (you will have guessed that the entrance to the guesthouse is to the left when facing the building). This is more neutral, everyone is free to make their own opinion. Other than the cleaning staff in the morning there isn't any staff for the guesthouse which seemed to work well but is still a bit unsettling. One impact this has is that the doors are always opened. Anyone could come in your room at any time of day or night.
