Large room, not busy, set in gardens. The futons and mattress were comfortable.We really enjoyed the dinner and the enthusiasm of the server. The price was lower than other similar properties in the Kiso Valley, probably because it is a few kilometres off the main road. We enjoyed our time there.

By choice we booked a bigger room, for the extra space, and it was affordable. We were late booking in Kiso-Fukushima and there were few accomodations left. But this hotel exceeded my expectations and we got the Japanese-room experience inside the room, with a "modern-ish" hotel outside the room. The hotel is a little older, but the staff is super-friendly, the location is good, and tour groups use this place. For a reasonable price you get a little of both worlds.

Lovely and helpful staff. The bed was one of the best I've had on my trip, which made up for the fact that I normally aim for sleeping on futons in tatami rooms. (Semi) Outdoor onsen is a big plus.
