I picked this hotel because I couldn't find a nice ryokan in Himeji and although a little off the beaten path, it was well worth the extra train ride. This hotel was really exceptional! It is in a 300 year old building which was really beautiful and the room we had was jaw dropping. I picked a room with a private bath and everything from the wood tub to the decorative sink was gorgeous. The room was filled with books to browse, and buy (sadly, no room in my suitcase). The large Japanese style breakfast was delicious and served in a beautiful room. The staff was really helpful, picking us up from the train station and suggesting places for dinner (delicious ramen a 10 minute walk). This was our favorite hotel that we stayed in while on our trip.

Perfect location for our stay. The women's hot spa was clean and perfect. I used it both nights of our stay. Breakfast was a little confusing because we just walked in without anyone to greet us. However, we enjoyed the breakfast food.

I chose this location based on it being billed as family-friendly, and it totally delivered on that aspect as far as the onsens/public baths are concerned. I (mother) was traveling with my son, and I really wanted him to have that experience, and it felt safe and comfortable for him.
