This place is the real deal. Five generations of ancestors above the shrine. I experienced a memento mori. Each generation grows with the daily reflection knowing one day it will be their turn to be venerated.
Plus it snowed perfectly on time.
A grand country home. Perfect for entertaining. Enormous library and teapot collection.
My favourite thing was the “ persimmon pickers” at the door.
And the persimmon were delicious.

The location is very close to train station but no noise can be heard. Very beautiful traditional rooms with amazing ocean view.

Lovely staff, clean, nice robes/kimonos and slippers provided, tea provided.
In January private onsen baths were almost all available and we reserved two of them for 45 minutes each.

The dinner was sumptuous, with many live stations to reduce wastage. I enjoyed the live performance, which introduced me to unique local music and instruments as a foreigner. The staff was very helpful and polite. The single room is small but just right, and I enjoy watching the trains pass by.
