I am not so much a fan of Port Antonio town but the area of Portland is my favourite as it’s so beautiful and peaceful. I always stay longer in the part of the island as it’s so wonderful to come from a big city like a London to this peaceful paradise.

We didn't spend a lot of time in the town of Port Antonio, but did have a delicious fish and lobster dinner at Roots 21. We mostly went to the beaches near fairy hill and Zion hill. Taxis are plentiful but we chose to use Polish Princess charter service as it was raining and or dark when we went out for dinner.

The main problem being in port Antonio is transportation if you are not driving. because it is not a tourist area like montego Bay or Negill, you may have difficulty reaching there or when you are Leaving!! I have been here about six times now And that is the biggest problem. There are great restaurants here with great food food along the area near Boston beach. Even though the jerk centers are not always that greatest according to reputation. the jerk restaurant right at the Boston beach Guest house entrance was excellent also also Rocky's fried chicken was good. I don't recall the names of a few of the other restaurants!!

Port Antonio is very charming place to visit in Jamaica.
Port Antonio is very charming place to visit in Jamaica. The town itself is very lively, and the surrounding area has lots of outdoor attractions do including, Frenchmans, cove, blue Lagoon, horseback riding, and more.
Be aware, however, that the roads are rough! There was construction going on as of late November 2023 when we visited. So we were stuck in bumper-to-bumper traffic at one point while they closed the road. There is only one main road and one lane each direction so getting around takes some time, even tough the distance between attractions may seem short.
Also have your wits about you when interacting with street vendors, they may overcharge you. So ask for prices upfront and calculate your total before handing over any cash. We got ripped off and wound up paying $1,000 JMD for a fritter, Callaloo and breadfruit but it was our fault for not double checking the total.
