This property was spacious and comfortable. Super well-equipped kitchen should you want to eat in. Beautiful view of the lake. If you stay here without a car, keep in mind it is a bit of a distance from Varenna. If you like to walk, there is a nice path that takes you there. It isn't a path you'd likely want to take at night, so you will need to utilize taxis at times. Taxis are not super easy to get, but the host, Daniela, is great about helping you to arrange one at any time and will also offer you rides into town when she and her husband (who live on the property) are going in. (Be sure and arrange transportation from the train station with her before you arrive. WhatsApp is best way to communicate with Daniela.) She was a wonderful host.
Near Villa Monastero and Castello di Vezio is located in Varenna, just 28 miles from Villa d'Este Gold Club and 30 miles from Como Borghi Train Station.

--The balcony is the highlight. Large and has an incredible view of the lake

--Yury was fantastic. We elected to have him pick us up and drop us off from the train station for 20 euros each way, and he gave us a tour of the town. He was very responsive and helpful throughout our stay, and he even gave us a complementary bottle of wine
--washer in the unit (although we did not use it)
Things to know:
--This is in an adjacent neighborhood to Varenna, about a 30 minute walk from Villa Monastero (which is on the edge of Varenna). It is a nice neighborhood, and there is a restaurant close by, but you should expect to have to walk to and from Varenna, with hills to get up into the neighborhood. You can cut the walk in half by taking the train, but it only comes once an hour. We enjoyed the walk (it is along Lake Como after all)

Overall, we really enjoyed this experience. We enjoyed breakfast and wine in the evenings out on the balcony with an amazing view, and we were in Varenna/Bellagio/Menaggio during the days. If you are happy with walking and understand it is not in the city center, you will have a great time

I think Varenna used to be considered the 'sleepy' city out of the three main spots in central Lago di Como (other two being Bellagio and Menaggio). However it is now very much a busy town during peak season. That being said, it was incredible, with the sunset view, and wonderful shops and restaurants. Book a charter or boat rental early and you can explore the lake. But if you're looking for a truly sleepy spot to enjoy the lake, there are probably other places.

We took the ferry to Bellagio and Menaggio one of the days and we were so pleased our stay was at Varenna. While the other towns are very cute. Varenna had a different charm. We ate at several restaurants and walked the cobblestone streets and hills enthusiastically searching all of the nooks and businesses hidden on the side streets. So easy to get around this town and take in the charm and history at every turn.

Varenna is incredible.
Varenna is incredible. It is pretty peaceful, even with tourists. It’s significantly quieter than other towns nearby (particularly Bellagio) and the people were very friendly to us. Highly recommend staying here if you’re looking to visit Lake Como!

Beautiful views of Lake Como. Quite a few restaurants, a couple down next to the Lake and a couple down the alleyways. Would suggest 1 or 2 days there. Everything is quite close to each other. Boat trip on Lake Como looks great. Entertainment some nights at the Square but no music allowed after 11pm. One bar open till 1am. Great place to take photos.

I visited Varenna 20 years ago and stated it was one of my favourite places on the planet. Be fully aware that it is very much a tourist trap now and you will be sharing the beautiful village with thousands of people.

Varenna is a great place to unwind and relax.
Varenna is a great place to unwind and relax. The lake, surrounding scenery including the mountain views, is beautiful. The most convenient way to get around the lake is via the ferry system. That said, you need to make sure you're at the right pier for your departure times. The guidance and signage posted from the ferry company - particularly in Bellagio - was very lacking. Lots of travelers seeking clarification from the few ferry company employees that were available. And we were there in shoulder season - I can only imagine the confusion experienced by all the ferry users during peak time.
We were only in the area a couple of days due to our schedule. But we were very glad to have the opportunity to visit Varenna. We did take the ferry around the mid-lake route, with a few hour stop-over in Bellagio for lunch and to explore the town. It was cute, but Bellagio was getting very crowded by Sunday afternoon, (and again it wasn't peak season yet.)
Also, be sure to seek out your restaurants and make dinner reservations WELL in advance of your visit. We saw quite a few folks getting turned away from restaurants because they did not have reservations.
The VIEW is amazing! You basically can see three cities of the lake Como: Bellagio, Menaggio and Varenna. Apartment is well equipped, there was everything we could need. And we loved those little surprises.
It has a parking space around 200 meters from the property. because we arrived late I couldn’t find, however the instructions actually was pretty clear.
The room with the terrace has unbeatable view. Varenna is a great place to stay -beautiful, charming, walkable, super well connected (train /ferries). The hotel staff was very friendly and welcoming. The restaurant has view over the lake. The rooms are old style but clean and very comfortable. Bathroom was recently renovated.
Definitely not a one star hotel. It was a clean, spacious room. The cafe below is fantastic and very convenient. A great location to the train station and to the main sights in Varenna. Would highly recommend!

The hotel is small but very nice. The location is excellent, in the center of Varenna, near the lake. Rooms are extremly clean.
