Charming town with an interesting history. The Archaeological Park features fantastic 4th century BC underground Etruscan tombs with frescoes still in great shape. Good bars and restaurants, friendly people.

The museum in Tarquinia is brilliant and we learned much more about the Etruscans, preparing us for the next part of our trip touring Etruria. There are plenty of excellent places to eat and the town is fascinating.

Beautiful laid back walled city on the crest of a high hill...
Beautiful laid back walled city on the crest of a high hill with spectacular views westward over the Mediterranean, and a few blocks away one can view a spectacular panorama of the great valleys to the east. A much smaller but older city than Rome; but a much more relaxed option to the hustle and bustle, one hour to the south.

We really enjoyed our room at this quaint bed and breakfast
The whole bnb was smaller than we expected however it did take away from the pleasure and comfort. We enjoyed a front room which looked out over the roof tops of Tarquinius and towards the sea. Great sunset view . Facilities were excellent and breakfast very nice. Lovely girl serving us . Great location to explore Tarquinia . Will definitely stay again .

Tarquinia was quaint with cobblestone streets.
Tarquinia was quaint with cobblestone streets. Little boutiques line the streets along with numerous eateries. We ate dinner at Arcadia, a seafood restaurant; and the food was absolutely delicious. Also, there were gelateria gambella, ice cream shop.

'Al Castello' lies at one of the most beautiful spots of Tarquinia. Right in the heart of the medieval centre, next to the castle (nomen est omen). The view from the terrace is breathtaking. At the same time, the apartment is conveniently located if you travel by public transport. The house dates from the 14th century and has loads of character. Rooms are clean and tidy, coffee & tea are great.
The best accommodation we had during our travels through Italy. A beautiful Agriturismo accommodation, just walking around is very nice, the nearby Tarquinia is a breathtaking place with Etruscan tombs and museum, we should have spent more than two days, definitely worth coming back one day, for longer. Very helpful owners, nice people. Silent place.
We were there in shoulder season for only one night. The staff of this hotel is very accomodating, showing guests around hotel and to rooms. Very helpful. They arranged some very much appreciated surprises for our anniversary. They were very welcoming which was nice as it was our first night in Italy.
