Imperial Hotel Tramontano, hotel in Sorrento

The Imperial Hotel Tramontano, set in the centre of Sorrento, features a terrace with views of the Gulf of Naples and Mount Vesuvius.

The room was extremely comfortable to meet our needs but was smaller than we expected. A little more space within the bedroom and certainly the bathroom would have been welcomed. Bed comfy and beautiful linen. The staff were most welcoming and helpful. Food and service excellent The pool and surrounding areas were lovely- the pool however, was on the small size for the size of hotel. Enjoyed the quiet garden area to enjoy some reading however the permitted smoking was not so great

FAQs about hotels in Sorrento

Colourful and Captivating

Overlooking the Bay of Naples and with views of the Vesuvius volcano, Sorrento is a colourful town in Campania. According to the Greek legend, it was the land of the sirens that had the power to enchant with their singing.

The town of Sorrento has gorgeous Renaissance and Baroque architecture, and a big variety of restaurants, shops and cafés. Built around the 11th century, the Romanesque Cathedral of Sorrento is the city’s most important landmark. The charming Bell Tower with the beautiful majolica clock is the first thing that you will notice.

The picturesque harbour of Marina Grande has some of the best restaurants in the city. Wander around during sunset and you will see fishermen cleaning their nets. Marina Piccola is the place to get a ferry to Capri, Amalfi and Naples.

Born in a garden of lemon and oranges, the traditional yellow liquor of limoncello is a unique aperitif or digestive drink. The mediterranean climate of Sorrento helps in the production of this famous refreshment.

Naples International Airport is located 6 km from the Capodichino district of Naples and about 29 km from Sorrento. You can stay in one of the Sorrento hotels, B&Bs and pensions that Booking.com offers.

Sorrento is by far the best place to stay on the Amalfi Coast. It is easy to navigate, walk, and most of all easier on the wallet. It has so many restaurants and wonderful shops. You can visit the other cities by car. We rented a Vespa and cruised everywhere along the Amalfi Coast. It was the best experience. Sorrento has wonderful sunsets so you aren't missing out on those "Amalfi Sunsets". I must say Sorrento is a hidden treasure. By far my favorite.

This was my second time to Amalfi Coast, hadn't visited Sorrento. I am so glad I did, it was amazing. The main street was pedestrian friendly, great restaurants and shopping, short walk to train and port to take the ferry. I would go back and stay there the whole time. The terrain was little flatter than other areas so good for walking.

There's so much to see and do in Sorrento and it's easy to get to the Amalfi Coast, Capri, Pompei and Capri from there. We found Sorrento to be very safe. Prices were a little bit more than they are away from tourist areas. The eating and drinking options are excellent but note that an intimate meal in Italy usually means sitting in very close proximity to many other strangers, many of whom see no issue blowing their second-hand cigarette smoke in your face. However, we did find a few places that offered more spacious surroundings where these impacts were tolerable. Serving sizes are good and the markups on wines are low.

We loved the views from the town of the ocean, the harbors and the shoreline. The architecture was interesting - I like old brick and stone buildings - and the choice of good restaurants is almost unlimited. and the shopping is abundant. The downtown is large enough to offer variety but small enough to be able to cover it on foot. We also got very good weather in late May. Sorrento can be very crowded so we are glad we were a bit early for the peak season. We stayed at the Ambassador Hotel which was enough off the beaten path to avoid the large crowds while still being near a number of restaurants and a reasonable walk to downtown. Sorrento was a great place to visit.

Absolutely perfect location to travel in both directions - Pompei/Naples & Amalfi coast. Loved Sorrento as a location in it self; great place, much more chilled than the busier tourist destinations, fab restaurants, bars, transport, views. We actually preferred Sorrento to stay compared to other locations on the Amalfi coast.

The Stay was very pleasant and infact the best in Italy considering all other hotels I stayed in. We took bunglow for 2 adults and 1 kid. It was clean with basic kitchen facilities (no complaints). The Location of the property is best and dont forget to have pizza there. The service staff are amazing and very humble. The room was as shown in the photos - very well decorated and maintained - and definitely added to our overall experience of Sorrento. It was by far the most memorable hotel room that we stayed in during our two week stay across southern Italy. For whatever reason we were not expecting daily house keeping, so that was greatly appreciated!
