The hotel is a throw back to the early 20th century - very old world charm. The location can't be beat - right on the water. And it's a short walk from the hotel to all the sites, restaurants, attractions in Ortigia. The room was comfortable, again, very old world decor. The staff is very friendly and helpful. All good until they changed my room without asking me, with no explanation. I just returned from a trip and found another person in my room. To make it worse, when moving my stuff (open laguage, personal things laying in the room) they lost some clothing that were on my bed. They made me look that i'm insane just showing me the cleaned room and telling me that nothing was left in the room. Furthermore instead of trying to find a way to settle the matter, they just said to me that i should make a claim. I've sent messages as not to make a negative review and assist me with the process of setteling this matter, no response.

A goldmine of Greek and Roman heritage, Siracusa is a UNESCO World Heritage Site together with the Necropolis of Pantalica in hills to the north-west.
Siracusa itself has a necropolis within the amazing Neapolis archaeological park, which also houses Roman amphitheatre and altar remains, as well as one of the largest Greek theatres ever built. Legend has it that the site includes the tomb of Archimedes, who was born here.
The ancient Greeks founded the city (also known as Syracuse) and Cicero even considered it the greatest of all. Columns from that period were used to build the Baroque cathedral, and the Fountain of Arethusa dates to the same era. Both are within Ortygia, a walled peninsula jutting into the turquoise Mediterranean Sea. Also here are ruins of the Roman temple of Apollo, and at the tip of the peninsula is the 13th-century Maniace Castle.
The fabulous Siracusa Archaeological Museum houses relics from all these periods, and is located by the Catacombs of Saint John. Opposite them both is the modern conical spire of the Madonna delle Lacrime Sanctuary church.
Aside from all this history, Siracusa also has plenty of pavement cafes and restaurants, and lovely sandy beaches overlooked by luxury hotels, cheap B&Bs and holiday homes available on Booking.com.

We very much enjoyed our two day stay in Syracuse, walking the narrow streets, window shopping, and marveling at the beautiful old buildings. We had great food and saw some wonderful art. Its a beautiful, interesting, walkable city.

Our hotel was on the island of Ortigia, a pleasant location.
Our hotel was on the island of Ortigia, a pleasant location. We explored Ortigia's cathedral and churches, the Bellomo Palace Gallery, the market, the crypt and underground tunnels of St Philip. On day 2 we visited the large Archeological Park in Syracusa and then went to the Museum. The latter was very disappointing - badly lit, broken AV presentations, no floor plan and unwelcomg staff. This area isn't easy to reach on public transport either. Day 3 we took an enjoyable short boat trip and day 4 we took the Interbus to Noto. Three days would have been sufficient.

Easy to get around with public transportation.
Easy to get around with public transportation. There were enough things to do to keep us busy for two days - puppet show, cathedral, underground tunnels, archeological park. Affordable prices. Stay away from main tourist spots on Ortigia. Food is better on the mainland. The boat trip was fun.

The best part by far is the Island Ortigia easily accessible from Siracusa via the main road. I would recommend staying on the island if you can because this is where you will want to spend your time when visiting Siracusa. We only stayed one night and could easily done another night.
Unfortunately, my daughter contracted food poisoning from one of the restaurants on the island (dodgy Tiramasu we think) which rather spolit matters for us personally as you can imagine.

Siracusa is an absolute gem, full of unspoilt charm on the island of Ortigia, with its back alleys and winding streets full of surprises. The papyrus museum and the Gallery Regional del Palazzo Bellomo are really not to be missed. There are many fine restaurants, the Osteria Mariano was our favourite.

Siracusa was on my bucket list of "must see" cities in Sicily. It was worth the long bus ride! Once you see the cathedral, read up on the history of it. Built on the footprint and with the original pillars of a 2,700 yr. old Greek temple. One of the highlights of my entire sojourn through Sicily.

Breakfast was very good , very rich . The location was good , walking distance to Ortigia. The rooms are very well designed and comfortable. The hotel and rooms were very clean. During one week in Sicily this is the best hotel which we have accommodated compare to Palermo and Taormina hotels which were at similar price levels . The hotel has very good fish restaurant bu the sea and in the center. Strongly recommended.” Onda Blue and Onda blue by sea”
The location is central and perfect; these 6 rooms are all exquisite and charming; the service, attention, breakfast and overall experience was great; I would definitely go back again to both Sicily (Ortigia) as well as to La Maison
