Fantastic city.
Travelled in off peak season.
Weather wasn’t the best with the rain, but was able to visit all major attractions without battling the crowds.
Also off peak season means less risk of pick pocketers.

Rome is the perfect destination for history buffs.
Rome is the perfect destination for history buffs. A tremendous variety of places to visit. I've been there twice now, and there is always more to see.
However, Rome is not the most comfortable city. The streets are narrow and crowded, and the weather in summer is hot and humid. But if you plan well, you will have an excellent time.

Rome was an incredible journey back to ancient history!
Rome was an incredible journey back to ancient history! The city is filled with so many interesting and beautiful places and moments, every day was great! The restaurant and food scene is beyond amazing, so many options and locations. So easily walkable is another huge perk, rarely required a taxi or Uber. And even though we went in January, the weather was fine, chilly but not truly freezing, and light on crowds!

Just wonderful!
Just wonderful! If you love history and/or art (any time from 600bc to C21) you'll find plently in Rome to enjoy. Or just soak up the atmosphere and stroll from one delicious meal to the next.
There's so much on offer I'd recommend buying a good guide book in advance because much of the online info is essentially trying to sell you packaged "experiences" which with a tiny bit of preparation you could plan for yourself and tailor to what you're really interested in (with the flexibility to be spontaneous if you want). Comfortable shoes recommended, although public transport and Uber both work pretty well.
I'd recommend staying in or very near the Historic Centre. It's full of atmosphere and very central for reaching other locations.

Residenza Maritti is a marvelous hotel. I have stayed here perhaps 20 times in the last 7 years or so, whilst living in Italy. It is quite simply one of the nicest places I have ever stayed at. The location is nothing short of spectacular; the staff and owners very kind and helpful; the rooms full of character and history as well as being spotlessly clean; the rooftop terrace has breathtaking views of ancient Rome. When I come to Rome, I always stay at Residenza Maritti. It is a wonderful place to enjoy the Eternal City from.
Great location, few minutes walk from Rome Termini train station.
2 stop from Colosseum,or walk about 15-20 minutes.
Don't forget to try "Gelateria S.M.Maggior" the best gelato ever!
Also had best Chinese food in "Ristorante Cinese Wang xiang lou" ( better than UK )
Just by hotel left hand corner, tasty and very reasonable price.
For Italy food we went Santa Maria Osteria - Ristorante Pizzeria,it was good.
Overall we enjoyed out stay.

(the hotel receptionists), our first 4 days in Italy were great. They are very nice people, very friendly and very helpful.
The hotel itself is also very good and exactly as described in the booking site. The price is very reasonable to such a good hotel with a parking, an excellent location and very good breakfast.
If I come to Rome again, certainly I’ll choose this hotel.
Fabulous hotel in great position in Rome. The most comfortable beds in Italy. No I am not kidding!! Great roof top bar/ breakfast area. Fabulous breakfast. What else, great shower too and product!! What more could you ask for. It's a perfect holiday right here!!
Horti 14 was the reason why I enjoyed Rome so much. The people, the service, our hotel room.. absolutely everything was perfect. Coming back to the hotel from the busy centre felt like you were in a different part of Italy. Thank you for the great stay🙌
