The stay has been good...In terms of location and facilities can be said to be acceptable. However the best of all has been the host Giuseppe, very kind and courteous from the beginning to the end, every day he made us a cappuccino accompanied with a smile, which makes you feel at home. Thank you very much once again for making our vacation very pleasant.

    Italy is never enough.

Italy is never enough. This was our first time in this region, and we certainly will come back. A fantastic Museo Archeologico is absolutely a must. I suppose in the summer it must be beautiful. A ferry to Messina makes it possible to visit a little part of Sicily as well.

Reggio Calabria is a great place to stay.

Reggio Calabria is a great place to stay. Good bars, restaurants, shops and amenities. Superb views across the Strait of Messina to Sicily from beachside bars. It’s also a great base. We travelled to Tropea by train and Messina in Sicily by ferry - both great day trips - and transport is cheap compared to the UK. Prices in bars and restaurants in Calabria were good. Go before everyone finds out about it!!!!

Reggio Calabria, in my opinion, is the jewel of the south. I feel it's underrated. Beautiful scenery, with the wonderful Lungomare. Lots of restaurants and cafes to choose from, not forgetting Cesare's gelati kiosk, it's the best in Reggio. However, I would avoid the cafes on the beach because they are more expensive than the ones on the side streets. Great shopping along Giuseppe Garibaldi Corso. Can't wait to go back there!

Reggio di Calabria is a beautiful and elegant city, largely dating from after the 1908 earthquake. Many buildings are in the elegant Liberty style. The Lungomare along the Straits of Messina is a great walk with views of Sicily and Etna. It has huge magnolias and pretty buildings. You can watch the sun set over Sicily. Via Garibaldi is a lively pedestrian street with many shops and cafes. The Aragonese Castle is definitely worth a visit. The Archaeology Museum is a must see with Ancient Greek art and the famous Riace Bronzes. It is a quick, 30 minute train ride to fascinating Scilla.

There was a lot of garbage in the streets.

There was a lot of garbage in the streets. Looks like it’s not collected very often which is a pity. Most pavements need to be redone as there are a lot of cracks and potholes. The main shopping area is very clean and well kept though. Trains are very punctual. Only had one delay but it wasn’t their fault as their was a fire somewhere. And only one hour delay so the train after that was on schedule. One other thing, the evening train going to Lamezia terme on a Saturday evening was full of youngsters and the boys were extremely rowdy and noisy to the extent of making me feel uncomfortable even though I wasn’t traveling alone.

The staff were professional and extremely nice and helpful. We had a very early flight, they booked our taxi and the gentleman who worked the nightshift on the desk made us coffee and prepared some light bites for breakfast as at 4am the kitchen was closed. A big thank you to all the staff. The restaurant/bar on the top floor with the views was amazing. Our room was nice, clean and comfortable. We visit the region two or three times a year and this is the hotel we will now use when we fly in/out of Reggio Calabria.

I had booked a different room to Charm initially. However we could not find that room, and the owner was not answering the phone or responding to messages. So after an hour I called Giovanni at Charm hotel. He booked the room and sent the details via WhatsApp. As I was travelling with a child it was important I found a room for the night. Giovanni rescued us that night, and he also helped us to find refreshments. Brilliant room, but also a fantastic host. Thanks Giovanni.

The owners were really helpful. Although generally Italians do not seem to know English (in terms of communication), nevertheless the owners tried hard and in the end we reached an understanding on everything! They answered any question within the booking app in minimum time. I needed a taxi very early in the morning, which was arranged for me immediately and without any problems. I sureley would choose "La casa del cuore" again for my stay in Reggio di Calabria.

We were very grateful for the provisions that were left for us. We have stayed in an great number of apartments throughout Italy, yet never have we seen such generosity. The host was fantastic and very accommodating. This is clearly an apartment that they care about and look after.
