We were there in November, so the weather was not ideal, but that being said, Monterosso was a lovely village with friendly people. It had a broad beach which would definitely be relaxing and enjoyable in warmer weather. The surf was wild when we arrived during a storm and it was something to behold! We stayed at a wonderful lodging, a reasonable walk to the train station (we are seniors) and used the train to explore several other beautiful villages in Cinque Terre. There were several good restaurants in which we enjoyed dining, but as it was late November, there were quite a few that were closed for the season.

This is a stunning location which is the victim of its own success. Monterosso and the whole Cinque Terre coastline is so attractive it gets overrun with visitors. There were lots of tour parties in mid-October, but it is still much calmer than the summer.

Lovely town to stay in to access all the best bits of the Chinque Terre. We looked at all the towns to stay in along the coast and Monterosso was the best by far. Lots happening lovely restaurants, easy access and great accomodation close to a nice beach. We ate at Ciak and would go back in a heartbeat, great food and atmosphere. Took a train to Riomaggiore and walked back to Monterosso which I would highly recommend and I think is the best way to do the walk. Unfortunately there was a storm before we arrived so the beach was not swimmable but it looked like it would be a great spot

Love this beautiful village and the old Monterrosso village is just 15 minutes away.
Easy to get around the village, friendly cafes etc.
Easy train access to the other villages in the Cinque Terre.
We stayed 5 nights/four days. However 4 nights/3 days would have been long enough.

The beach area in the 'new town' was wonderful with all the facilities you needed. And loved the short walk to the 'old town'. A very pretty town with some great restaurants and a number of shops with wonderful local products including some talented artisans (jewellery, ceramics, cosmetics). Loved the local vino and food (tomatoes, lemons, & seafood). Easy to travel to other villages in Cinque de Terra by either train or ferry. Enjoyed a couple of treks between villages - amazing views and good for the legs! The time of the year we visited (late September) it wasn't too crowded which was lovely.

Flatter than the other villages.
Flatter than the other villages. Beaches available and great dining options! Charming town. Really felt like Italy, where as Sorrento was also nice, but felt more resort-ish (like USA where we came from).

Breakfast was perfect! Location was not a problem for us since the hotel has its own shuttle bus/service car that takes you to the Monterosso beach entrance. All of the staff were very friendly. Anna even suggested routes to take to explore the Monterosso.
Manarola Village was the best amongst the 5 for me. Porto Venere, not one of the 5 villages, but we visited as recommended by Anna, and we loved it! One shouldn't miss this place when visiting Cinque Terre.
Villa Accini has a great location in Monterosso al Mare along the Cinque Terre. It is just a short walk to several restaurants and the beach. The rooms are very clean, and the bed was comfortable. The breakfast was not included but was reasonably priced with a variety of choices. The hotel offers free parking. We would recommend this hotel to anyone without ambulatory problems.
Location is perfect. The view from top floor two bedroom apartment was beautiful. Hotel also has a rooftop terrace which is open for all guests. Monterosso Al Mare is a very small town, all restaurants and beach are nearby. Very convenient to travel to other Cinque Terre towns.
The staff in general went above and beyond to make us comfortable and to assist us. The hotel is clean and in a perfect location right near the beach and the train station in Monterosso, which in our opinion is the best town in Cinque Terre. The breakfast was good and.
