This place has a fantastic location with some rooms (including ours) having a great view of the cathedral. The rooms are great, with nice beds. Vibrant vibe.

The Masseria Pernice has stunningly beautiful grounds, with calling birds and bougainvillea, total quiet at night. Breakfast was delicious. Our hostess tried to make us reservations at a restaurant for dinner. She also made breakfast for us an hour earlier than normal because of our flight times.

Monreale is a city built on the side of the mountain, so be prepared to walk up hills and stairs! The big attraction there is the Duomo in the main square which is just beautiful in the inside as the artwork is done in gold! You will have to pay an entrance fee, but it is worth it. The streets can be a bit of challenge to navigate as there are street vendors, cars, vespas, bicycles and pedestrians all trying maneuver through the narrow streets. Monreale gives you a beautiful view of Palermo and the ocean.

We spent only an afternoon here, but so glad that we included it on our trip. The cathedral was the most beautiful we had seen on our trip to Italy - we also visited ones in Palermo, Cefalu, and Catania. There were several interesting restaurants on side streets near the town center and we found a lovely ceramic/mosaic shop just off the central square. Views were amazing and it was an easy car ride to the airport for our departure the next day.

Although you can get in the cathedral free to see the mosaics, I would suggest you get the inclusive tickets (€12) to see the Cloister, the Cathedral, the Sanctuary and get up to the roof for a fantastic view of the Cloister and the town.

For us the cathedral was the centrepiece, why we were there, and the 12th century mosaics were stunning. We also enjoyed seeing the cathedral packed with young, local families, after hundreds of years still a centre for the local community

The Duomo both inside and outside is spectacular.
The Duomo both inside and outside is spectacular. The small town itself is very picturesque as well, with some great little restaurants (e.g. Pepers and pizzeria Antica de Guillermo opposite the main entrance to the Duomo) and beautiful views of Palermo in the distance. It's a good place to stay as you avoid the pain of driving in the busy centre of Palermo. You can leave the car in Monreale and take a 20-minute bus ride into the centre for €1,40 one way. You get the bus tickets from any tobacconist.

The cathedral is breath-taking and worth a trip unto itself, but Monreale is also an ideal staging point for trips into nearby Palermo. We had great food and sight-seeing within Monreale itself and took advantage of a good bus system to spend a day in Palermo. It was easy to do and we enjoyed everything we did here.
A perfect location to visit the magnificent Monreale Cathedral. The apartment had everything we needed for a short stay. It was also close to the main street to do grocery shopping. The owner provided information about the town and the apartment in advance by email, and was attentive throughout our stay. Also the people in Monreale were very friendly and they helped us finding the street the apartment was located.
This was a wonderful place to begin our tour of Sicily: the owners are extremely welcoming and helpful. They offered to drive us up to Monreale each day, and advised us on where to eat and where to go; they also provided us with a delicious breakfast each morning, including freshly squeezed orange juice, and gluten-free options for me, which I had asked for on booking.
Beautiful location, we spent most of our time there on the terrace / around the pool - the view is amazing. Breakfast was just as good as previous reviews, you won’t be disappointed! Extremely friendly hosts too. 15 minute walk into Monreale. Overall a great stay + good value for money, would recommend if you are staying in Monreale.
The house is very authentic, well-equipped and located in a nice quite area. There is also a spacious terrace for bbq and sunbathing.
The owner is very kind and she helped us to get around Monreale and Palermo.
