Real Review: Southern Calabria is a remote area. I don't think that this is an area where you are going to find your casual Italian tourist. If you are looking for the piazzas of Florence or Rome where everybody speaks English and there is gelato on every corner, this is definitely not that place. It's better than all of that, it's also different. The facility itself is a cross between a small hotel and a large guest house. I believe there are 8 rooms. Most of the guests spend their time around the pool, or on the patio overlooking the beach. As such you will come into contact and have to talk with and deal with and respond to the other guests in the hotel. If that type of interaction is not what you are looking for or if you value a higher level of privacy, and interacting with the other guests is not something that you desire, this should be taken into account. The same goes for the staff. They become like your family very quickly. And you will see them from the time you wake up in the morning until the time you go to bed at night. They cook you breakfast lunch and dinner, make up your room and provide you with cocktails, and our interaction with the staff was truly fantastic. They are lovely people. The closest bars and restaurants for any type of social life or anywhere from 5 to 10 miles away. As such you will eat most of your meals and spend most of your time at this hotel. There is ample gated parking, there is a private and deserted beach with excellent snorkeling, and the pool and the vibe and the other travelers make this a very special location and place to hang out. We stayed for four days. We had planned on going out for some dinners. We never did, although we did drive to some nearby towns for some wonderful seafood lunches. Michele is an excellent and friendly host and also an excellent chef we had a different menu every evening for dinner. He even went to a fish market and brought a sea bass for our dinner. Wow
