The room itself was great with the historical reference, size, parking facilities were good and the general nature and style of the hotel was excellent. The staff were pleasant and helpful working the best with what they have been given.
Set inside Mount Vesuvius National Park, Hotel Souvenir offers free parking. It is 5 minutes' drive from the ancient Roman town of Ercolano and its ancient ruins, including the Villa of the Papyri.

We booked the wrong night and the hotel was very accommodating and booked us in free of charge for the correct night when we arrived. The location was great and the price was excellent. I would recommend.

Great location for visiting Ercolano Herculaneum site or the famous vintage market. Flora the owner was lovely and helpful. Easy access to Napoli by train. Although located on a busy street and junction the traffic noise didn't bother us too much. Great Pizza nearby at 'Rovi' 👍.
Offering garden views, a garden and free WiFi, B&B del Sole is located in Ercolano, 3 km from Ercolano Ruins and 12 km from Vesuvius.

Wonderful views - sea in front, Vesuvius behind. Very communicative staff, before we arrived, and very helpful in organising transport logistics for us, airport pickup, our trip to Vesuvius and on to the train station. Ideal location just near the bus stop on the road to Vesuvius entrance. Comfy room and very clean everywhere. Delicious breakfast on the lovely terrace, with lots of options, including fruit, fresh pastries and savoury items. Very friendly people and friendly cat!

Ercolano itself is not very cosmopolitan, the main reason to go is the archaeological site which is brilliant.
Travel to Pompei is not easy, the direct express train only runs four to six times a day, and tickets must be bought online.
The local Circumvesuviana train is best, but you need to change at Torre Annunziata. No-one tells you this.

It’s really easy and quick to get into Naples,20mins on the train and cost 1.8 euro. It’s 15 min walk to Herculaneum, if you get room on the front you can see it from the window. It’s 20 mins on the train to pompei. Nice bakery and supermarkets in town, good choice of restaurants try La Taverna di Pummarola Gourmet, great food. Area is fine, felt very safe, sure it’s a bit run down but it’s southern Italy and it like that everywhere.

We wanted to visit Vesuvio and Pompeii which was why we chose the Ercolano as a base (not being familiar with the area), but its not a great place really. We needed two days to cover these activities so the length of stay was necessary

Ercolano archiogical site is fascinating!
Ercolano archiogical site is fascinating! Villa Durant is about 5 minute walk to them which was ideal!
The only negative thought is that it’s so dirty around the town of Ercolano and Naples is that there’s rubbish everywhere! (almost to the point of fly tipping).
It’s about a half hr drive up to Mount Vesuvius.

The ruins were fantastic.
The ruins were fantastic. There is also the Teatro Antico, which is still underground. We missed out on this as we didn't find out about it until we got there. They only admit small groups at a time and it was fully booked. Tickets are available from the Herculaneum entrance or on the Ticket One website, so you really need to book on advance. There is a virtual Archaeological museum in the town. This includes a short 3D film about Vesuvius, the opportunity to fly a virtual drone and a VR experience of walking round one of the palace gardens. Ideal for kids and teens! The museum is screen based about Herculaneum ruins and does not include actual discoveries from the site.
For visiting the surrounding areas, trains into Naples are regular, as are trains to Pompeii (but you have to change - the ticket man didn't tell us this!). Don't miss the chance to wander round the actual town of Pompei. It was beautiful! In fact, next time I would choose to stay there over Ercolano or Naples!

My grandchild suggests we would have been better staying in Pompeii and travelling to Ercolano one day. I had decided to follow what my neighbour suggested, based on taking a younger child to southern Italy.
We loved our stay here! Villa Cua is in a historic building. The rooms are very modern but retain the beauty of the historic villa. There are tall ceilings, balconies overlooking the street, a tile shower and comfortable beds. The location is quite central but also very quiet. It is within a few blocks of the Herculaneum ruins. The hosts are extremely helpful and gave good recommendations for restaurants and local things to do. Breakfast is coffee and pastries at a nearby coffee shop. Note: there is no elevator.
We had a great time at Pepe’s place and he is definitely the best host we have ever met! He was always extremely helpful and showed us many places around unknown for tourists. The apartment is at great location, very easy to get around and with walking distance to bars and restaurants. Would definitely stay here again! We loved our trip to Ercolano and Napoli! The apartment is about 5min walk to beautiful beach. There is a big shop 10m from this apartment. We love this place!
Lovely modern room, superb bathroom. Great balcony for people watching in a busy area of Ercolano. Lots of restaurants nearby and directly opposite a small supermarket.
The property was beautifully furnished. it was a lovely room and the family were very welcoming and helpful. It was very well located near the Herculaneum ruins
