In general, the feeling is that this hotel was some kind of space where valuables were stored, the entrance to each floor was equipped with thick metal doors, similar to those in bank safes.
Otherwise, the overall feeling is a bit old-fashioned (lace-wrapped lamps can be seen in Agatha Christie's novels).
The most surprising thing is the bathroom, it is big, maybe 2x2 meters, in which there is only a bathtub and a toilet. There is no way to position the shower. It sits very low next to the tub with a short hose and this forces you to shower crouched at one end of the tub. I would say that showering is dangerous in this bathroom.

If you're in to mountain walking then this is a great place to visit. Not so many easy walks as the valley sides are steep. There is a good free local bus service to take you around the adjacent valleys, which does open up the walking options. Nice shopping centre. Great gelati 😊

Courmayeur has a cute downtown in the city.
Courmayeur has a cute downtown in the city. There is an endless variety of hiking and outdoor things to do in and around the area. If you are looking to get away from the relative hustle and bustle of Chamonix this is probably the place for you.

Loved Courmayeur, the place, the people, the food.
Loved Courmayeur, the place, the people, the food. Such a pretty centre and lovely restaurants up the mountain. A fairly small ski area, so 4 days of skiing was enough here. Will definitely come back here for a weekend, but not for a week.

Skiing: high so plenty of snow, in good condition.
Skiing: high so plenty of snow, in good condition. Mosy of the lifts were reasonably quick. Very little queuing when we were there. Lots of potential for off piste. Most of the blue runs were linking paths rather than enjoyable pistes. Nice reds and blacks. Relatively small area, but if you have a car La Thuile is nearby.
Weather wasn't great so didn't go up the Skyway.

We had an amazing stay at Hotel Berthod for a skiing holiday. The location is fantastic and very near both the cable car and the town centre. We had a lovely view of the mountains from our room too! The staff were so friendly and helpful with dinner recommendations. Breakfast was delicious too! We booked into the spa which you get exclusive use of (€25 a head). It had a Turkish bath, steam room, sauna and relaxation room - it was incredible! Thank you team Berthod!
