This family-run hotel is set on the bank of the Mallero River, 400 metres from the station. It is connected by a private walkway to the pedestrian centre of Sondrio.

This was a really nice hotel and more luxurious than I was expecting for the price in this area. Everything clean and nice. The employees were helpful and the breakfast was very good, plus I had a wonderful and rather romantic view over the river.
The hotel is basic and old but located well on the main road. The owner allowed us to store our bikes in the garage. There is a restaurant on site which was busy but we went to the lovely pizza restaurant round the corner turn left when exiting the hotel. I also recommend walking right when exiting the hotel, walk along the main road 400 meters and there is a metal factory building which is a craft brewery where they were selling cold beer from the tap.
la Svolta is in the middle of several trails in Valtellina and the landscape visible from the hotel it’s astonishing. The hotel is not too far from Chiuro, so it’s easy to commute either by car; on foot or even by train. The restaurant it’s remarkable: others in the nearby are pretty comparable, so there’s no needs to look for something else. The staff is available; professional and easygoing.
We liked everything this place offered. Owner of the place, Mr. Paolo was very nice and helpful. I fully recommend this hotel. And the food and the drinks were really good and reasonably priced.
