Chiavari itself is not a tourist destination, but it is a very friendly city . It has plenty options for shopping and dining. The location is a perfect intermediate point if you are visiting Cinqueterre for one side, and Santa Margherita and Portofino on the other site. Transportation by train to those places is easy and no expensive. Personnel at the train ticket office speaks fluent English and are very helpful when planning you route.

We stayed in Chiavari cause we didn’t find another appropriate accommodation in Cinque Terre, but I’m so glad it happened this way, because Chiavari is one beautiful small town (but not too small), charming and interesting. In my opinion it is more interesting than Cinque Terre. There are a lot of restaurants, bakeries, different shops, beautiful streets, typical italien architecture, sea side and so on. We stayed for two days there, but I will come again for sure, at least for four days or more. It is close to Portofino and Cinque Terre (in a between), has better parking options, there is also a train station and trains go very often to different destinations. (you can see more on my IG: art.of.making.memories)

Chiavari is a pretty little place right on the beach.
Chiavari is a pretty little place right on the beach. The town centre is porticoes with lots of nice little restaurants. It gets very crowded and expensive in summer, but off season its a lovely place to visit.
The cemetery up the hill is lovely and the centre of town has a nice antiques market one sunday a month. There is a bit of art deco architecture.

Chiavari is a perfect choice if you want to visit around Cinque Terre and Portofino. The prices are great compared to other cities and is very easy to get from Chiavari to visit them by train. We managed to visit everything we had on the list: Cinque Terre, Portofino, San Frutuosso, Genoa, S. Margherita etc. The beach in Chiavari is not that great if you are looking for stunning blue water, but it was easy to travel to other beaches, such as Monterosso.

We have been to Chiavari many times because it combines so many things we enjoy. The sea of course, but also a wonderful evening passagiata, as well as absolutely divine restaurants. The town is compact, with good shopping, ample (paid) parking and delightful piazzas.
The hosts are very friendly and kind. From the location was easy to reach the city center on foot. I really appreciated the private parking. Good place to reach out nice beaches nearby by car. Chiavari railway station is reachable in 15-20 min on foot. Supermarket is few steps aside. The flat has very good space for family. Terrace is enjoyable in the morning for breakfast. No noise at all and all quiet around allows you to sleep well. Great starting point to visit Liguria region, one of best amazing Region in Italy.
The Casetta is located in downtown in a one-way street. We were welcomed by Laura, a real estate agent in Chiavari, which gave us a tour and answered our questions. The Casetta is decorated with taste and very well equipped (sofa is a convertible bed!). We loved the patio. There is a parking lot close to the Casetta where you can stay for 2 hours, or a large one close to the sea which is free for a long-term stay (5 min by foot). Chiavari is a very beautiful city to enjoy dolce vita!
The apartment is located on one of the many narrow streets of Chiavari, which is not particularly easy to get around in. Fortunately our stay was not to visit the beach (we did walk there, and it is a bit of a jaunt). It is a pleasant apartment, roomy, has a washing machine.
There is nothing that’s not to like!
Perfect hotel in amazing style restored to its glory 1930 days.
Amazing staff!
Food amazing!
Will visit soon again!
