This nice-sized town doesn't get much attention but surprisingly convenient as a base (and not many other tourists!) for visiting Naples, Pompeii, Sorrento, the Amalfi coats towns and Capri, using the frequent train service,

A fantastic small town between Pompeii and Sorrento, avoiding much of the prices and the crowds of those more well-known destinations. Excellent restaurants with very affordable prices and a great walkable beach promenade. Trains take you easily to Naples, Pompeii, Sorrento; ferries all the way to Capri.

The fact that it is still a working town as well as a tourist destination. Location made it easy to venture out to other areas and destination spots. People were accommodating and good eating was plentiful!

Castellammare di Stabia is a nice little Italian town with not so many tourists. You can enjoy the life of the Italian people - see how they live what they eat - what do they do different.
If you go up to the hill with the cable car you will get a nice view of the region.

A typical Italian town with virtually no tourists.
A typical Italian town with virtually no tourists. It felt safe and was clean. The beach was disappointing/ unusable as a beach (covered in grass) but we didn’t go for a beach holiday anyway.
We went to a lovely sushi restaurant (Ikigai), went to a beautiful Italian (La Monica) and 2 lovely bars (Mafalda and Piazza Vanvitelli)
There’s a cable car up the mountain with amazing views and trains direct to Sorrento and Naples, including Pompeii, Versuvius and Herculaneum.
It’s the perfect spot for a must more affordable trip to the area than Sorrento which is full of tourists!

The reception staff went above and beyond,
From some of the older reviews the hotel has picked up alot, couldn't fault them.
Rooms are spacious and clean.
Pool area is staffed with refreshments and it is free despite what old reviews state.
Also has an onsite restaurant that was delicious and reasonably priced.
Central to Pompeii and Naples, 1hour drive to Positano.
We really enjoyed the stay in Il Veliero. The view and the sound of the sea were amazing. Breakfast in a nice cafe few meters away from the room. Fantastic location and super helpful host. The only disadvanatge was a dirty beach. It's a pity because Castellammare di Stabia is such a beautiful town!
Huge rooms, very clean, comfortable beds, big social space. Great communication from the owner, very easy to access with lift, right in the centre of Castellammare, close to the Circumvesuviano, cable car and beach, probably the best possible location yet very quiet, no road noise at night.
Location is excellent, views spectacular and great to have the beach directly from the hotel, of its pebbles but that’s Sorrento. The view from the room lovely. Having a connecting room is great with a family and there is plenty of parking.
Clean hotel. Large room with gorgeous views of the sea. Room service everyday. Very welcoming and friendly staff.
We stayed here to visit sorrento town and surrounding areas of Italy.
