I Lari was a true home-from-home. Cinzia and Michele were such warm and lovely hosts and we truly enjoyed hanging out at their beautiful home. Also, as others have said, Cinzia’s cooking was just so tasty and beautifully presented.
Getting acquainted with Thor the dog was a delightful bonus. One of the largest, friendliest and most characterful mountain breeds we have ever met!

Compact, comfortable one-room cottage in the secluded garden of the owner’s house. Spotless modern bathroom. Small kitchenette with sink, fridge and cooktop so there is the possibility of doing your own catering if you want. Secure off-street parking.
Stunning castle well worth seeing.
Book tickets in advance from their website (€7) - there are limited numbers, and you avoided queueing to get in.
The ticket is only to go inside - you can walk around the outside for free. The inside is worth seeing though.
There are signs, and sometimes people, telling you that the road to the castle is closed or limited access - tell them you are going to the Taverna Sforza, they have their own car park next to the castle for only €3, and you have a right of access to go there.
The walk up from the main road is longer and steeper than you think!
You can also go up at night and see the outside illuminated for free.

Each bedroom had double beds and an en-suite. The facilities are excellent and the grounds are large, secure and private. There is a swimming pool, table tennis, bikes, pizza oven and BBQ, and plenty of outdoor furniture. The location is wonderful, near the foothills of Castel del Monte and it's easy to reach tourist sites by car. The house is modern and fully equipped. The welcome basket was a lovely treat and Valeria and her family were fantastic hosts. I look forward to returning one day.
This was a great place to stay after visiting Castel del Monte. It is in an historic villa on a farm with lots of charm and a very nice restaurant. The breakfast was wonderful and the family and staff were all so nice and helpful. We would highly recommend staying here. However if you have a problem with steps be sure to get a room with easy access. Our attic room was very cozy.
The view of Castel Del Monte on a hill in the distance is great. Dining room areas are very tastefully decorated and furnished with a casual up market vibe. There is a rooftop jacuzzi pool, but this cost 20 euros per person (not correctly described in the booking.com information.) Amazing breakfast and very helpful staff.
On our tour in the south of Italy this was the hotel we loved most. Tasteful, peaceful and quiet, lots of wonderful outdoor spaces to sit and relax. Breakfast with local products, most of them homemade. If you have the chance to stay there, go for it, we absolutely loved it.
