Lu' Hotel Riviera, hotel in Carloforte

Staff were all exceptionally helpful and polite, a credit to hospitality sector. Breakfast was good but I wasn't keen on fact that the scrambled eggs were in the same Bain marie as the bacon. Not helpful.

Sofia Family Suites, hotel in Carloforte

Sofia Family Suites features free WiFi and rooms with air conditioning in Carloforte. The accommodation offers a shared kitchen and a shared lounge for guests.

The location is fabulous…steps from everything. The rooms were big and bright and very well equipped… little Juliette balcony so you could really let the breeze in though they were also air conditioned for the July heat. The kitchen is great, no oven. The microwave is convection, and we had everything we needed to be able to cook for our children. There’s a lovely dining room also to sit and eat or play games or just have tea together. The management team are always available, with a smile, we’ve at midnight when we locked ourselves out. Oops… they were fantastic. The house is spotlessly clean, and is cleaned every day but your individual room is cleaned and towels changed twice per week The guesthouse was full the whole time we stayed, most guests only staying one night, but it never felt like anyone else was there.

Beautiful island that is the quintessential Italian vacation, compact enough to comfortably explore in a week, but you'll still want to stay longer. It has beautiful beaches that are rarely crowded, charming coves, calette, hiking trails, mountains, cliffs, boating, sailing, diving, snorkeling, exquisite cuisine and shopping, etc.

Carloforte is always a dream, my husband and I need to visit...

Carloforte is always a dream, my husband and I need to visit it every year as we are simply in love with it. The city center is like a fairy tale of all the architecture and the people are so nice everywhere you go, you can feel it has a soul. The food and restaurants are delicious everywhere you go, but our favourite is definitely Ristorante da Nicolo, you need to try it! Also the small Tavernas around the city offer amazing food and they are very economic. Our favourite beaches are La Caletta and La Bobba. It is very easy to get around Carloforte, especially if you have a car, to reach the beaches around. In the city center there is a big free parking space in the close vicinity of the fairy, so you do not need to pay for the parking, but bare in mind that the parking space gets very busy in the evenings, especially during the summer weekends as the city is very alive. You need to visit this place, it is out of this world.

Carloforte is an old village of colorful houses, you can...

Carloforte is an old village of colorful houses, you can breathe an air of joy and friendly people. The only thing is that there is not much tourist information of the place, very bad signage on the road to find the beaches, they charge tax for 3 to 5 euros to use the cutlery on your plate of food in restaurants and we find it INCREDIBLE, if one pays that because you can not take the cutlery? Nowhere in the world do they charge for cutlery. And this happens all over Sardinia. I recommend a gelateria in front of the DECOLMAR boats, a yogurt ice cream with a delicious cherry sauce, it is attended by his father and son ... IL DIVINE FRUIT. A delicious pizza in the PIZZERIA NAPOLI near the square or central park of Carloforte is served by father mother and daughter, local and family businesses and we liked that, it benefits local tourism.

We enjoyed driving around to the far side of the island...

We enjoyed driving around to the far side of the island which isn't very big. We especially liked Il Colonne area on the southern side of the island. The beaches that we saw were mostly rocky beaches and not sandy.

Lovely little island to visit for a few days.

Lovely little island to visit for a few days. We stayed in the town, which was great. You only need 2 nights really though. If you like snorkelling make sure you visit Cala Sapone on Sant'Antioco, the island next door to Carloforte. It's a little cove, and if you swim out a bit it's absolutely insane!! My favourite beach day of two weeks in Sardinia by a long way.

    Off the beaten track.

Off the beaten track. Great to visit outside the busy season - end September/October. Lots of places closed but enough open to experience some decent food. Id highly recommend Pomata Bistrot, had a wonderful meal, great atmosphere.
