The experience was absolutely amazing. The place was stylishly decorated. Room was large, comfortable and cozy. We saw the northern lights on one of the two nights. We were having dinner and waitress told us there’s northern lights appearing. Our window was facing the lights and it was a great show! The staff here were great too. Very friendly to us and our kid. One of them has even learnt to greet us in Chinese on new year’s eve. The restaurant and bar were good too. Perfect experience! Love this place!

Might be nice if we got the other unit or stayed there at the summer. But the 5BR unit in winter is far from comfortable.

A friendly, young lad checked us in. He made recommendations of tourist areas to see around this location. We had a cozy cabin with a table and 2 chairs, which is always nice. Easy parking near cabin. Our cabin had a great heat with a beautiful view. Our cabin was bunk beds. Bathroom was small but very clean. Be cautious how much hot water you use as it's a very small hot water tank that is mounted over the shower. We had a delicious meal in their restaurant the night we arrived, and we really enjoyed it. They have a lovely cold cut breakfast buffet with delicious baked breads.

A very lively bustling hostel it was! Room was decent, with just enough space to keep luggage for 2 people. There are 3 Sharing kitchens at ground floor, which are well equipped. Their dining hall is very spacious. Wifi and heater was fine, didnot face any issues. Hostel is a 5 min drive on a gravel road from the Ring road.

High quality apartment, beds great etc.
High quality apartment, beds great etc. Problem was getting there was a hassel of the off road time with very difficult roads. Too expensive given that. And it was a construction site, per the picture out of our window.

There was a lot of noise.
There was a lot of noise. We weren't on the main building and when people walked in the hallway you got a lot of noises. Also the fan in the toilet turned on every time you turned on the lights and it stayed on for 15 minutes after.

We stayed in Kirkjubaerjarklaustur and made day trips to the glacier and to black beach. If you have a car, it is a great place. The scenery is beautiful and it is a good location to explore the south eastern part of the island. It is a bit of a drive for groceries and I suggest you buy them in Reykjavik or at a larger town on the way to the south.

We were upgraded to the Magma Hotel, to a room with a big glass sliding door facing a mild show of the Northern Lights that went on all night. As a result I can't really comment on the Landbrot Guesthouse, but it is in the same location which was wonderful!
Check in using lockbox code was very easy. Overall the rooms were simple and clean. Had all the basics needed to do some simple cooking. The shower is quite comfortable, with strongest water stream we experienced during our entire stay in Iceland.
Super nice and spacious cottages. Comfy beds, privacy and tranquility.
Very close to all attractions.
Delicious Icelandic breakfast - will come again next time 🙂
Good hostel in a beautiful secluded location, but close to Iceland's ring road. Very quiet and clean with good beds. Shared kitchen and bathrooms were functional.
