I came for a function and darshan. The trip was short as I have come here many number of times. Good place to visit and have as a hub to cover nearby places.

Wonderful temples all within a short distance.
Wonderful temples all within a short distance. Go early in the morning to see the beautiful prayers.
Check out the bars in the evening for a cool beer and enjoy the complimentary snacks.
Restaurants are plenty and the vegetarian food is amazing so are the Indian sweets. Head to Krishna Sweets.
Do try out their local soft serve ice cream and chocolates.
Head to Westside for comfortable cotton ladies Indian tops and pants.
Grab is not reliable at all. The driver will call and quote you a higher price. Your best bet is to hail an auto but get the hotel guards to help you.

Public transport, especially the buses are good and reliable but the driving is mostly fast and rash.
Auto drivers mostly overcharge. Ola drivers ask for 30 percent more before starting the ride.
Restaurant options are quite decent.
Don't plan a decent bath in Amma Pettai.
The water was not clean and other facilities are not great, especially for ladies.

Trichy, famous for it's beautiful & ancient temples, I feel needs minimum 2 days of stay so that you can visit all the important & ancient Temples /sites in Trichy itself not talking about nearby World Heritage Site Sree Brihadeeswarar Shiva Temple nearby at Tanjore around 60 Kms from Trichy.
All temples are built by ancient Cholas/Pallavas/Pandyas/Nayakas, south Indian Dynasties.
We had darshan at Sree Rangam Vishnu & Sree Jambukeshwarar Shiva temples. Beutifully Sculpted Pillars are soothing and treat to eyes particularly in Sree Jambukeshwarar Temple. Next day we visited Tanjavur to have darshan of Sree Brihadeeshwarar Shiva temple, it was WOW moment seeing such a magnificient temple built in those ancient times.

The staff were super friendly and helpful. The hotel is right in the middle of Trichy, so very convenient for everything (even if it's easier to say 'Sangam' to the auto drivers :). Really modern, clean, with all necessary facilities. The breakfast buffet is good. The bar is a really nice space to relax. We were visiting family, so the hotel was a lovely place to return to after the hustle and bustle of Trichy.
Nothing. Costlier than Taj Vivanta, but worst hotel at exorbitant rates. For two rooms we paid Rs 22000 without complimentary breakfast. Booking.com made huge money, since at hotel the rates are 50% cheaper. Big organization like booking.com should not cheat its regular customers.
