The property is cozy and inside a gated community. It has an orchard around it consisting of mango, java apple, chiku and jamun trees. It's beautiful. Special shout out to Mr. Devnarayan who is the estate manager and a very hospitable and easy to approach person. He helped us a lot, even at odd hours. The owner, Mr. Sanyal is blessed to have such a commendable employee. Would visit again 10/10, provided it's available. 😃

Shantiniketan is and will always be permanent draw for any Bengali for the obvious reason. A Bengali usually prefer to come back to Shantiniketan annually or more often because of the cultural reason. And, it is never monotonous. In fact, many Bengalis find themselves a permanent residence by buying a property here and visiting it quite frequently. These days, the options of stay and eatry are increasing by leaps and bounds here making it preferred destination compared to many other draws.

A place full of deep magic, serene nature, and generous loving people. It's hard to describe but there is something so natural about the way people live and move here, their connection to life and art and music. My soul is stirred - I can see how Tagore's poetry flowed so mellifluously if this is where inspiration took its root!

Best is ofcourse that it was the Karmabhoomi of our Gurudev Rabindranath. The entire Ashram area & also the popular tourist spots like Sonajhuri, Sriniketan , Prantik etc are a beautiful amalgamation of the traditional and the modern. Only regret that the Rabindranath homes, Chhatimtala, Upasona Griho- all major attractions is still closed for tourists. And as a female traveller, I would like more public washrooms- which should be made a priority for all major tourist spots in West Bengal.

Shantiniketan as a place is rich with history and rural culture. So do visit this when you get a chance. But please be watchful to book your stay at the right place. Some places like the Dip holidays are not at all safe for your family. Book some good place near the Shantiniketan campus, for eg., the Shyambati area is quite amenable for your stay and peace of mind.
