Overall, my experience in Madurai was disappointing due to the high costs. Auto-rickshaw fares are unreasonably expensive, and passengers need to be extremely cautious about being overcharged. Even booking an auto through Ola doesn’t help, as drivers often demand extra money. On top of that, vegetarian food is overpriced. These issues made my time in Madurai less enjoyable.

There are great number of ancient temples and monuments in Madurai. But before taking an auto or taxi find out the distance in maps and bargain the price otherwise you may be over charged. There is no facility of clean public toilets so you have to depend on hotels. A must visit place is Saravana stores the biggest shopping mall in India where you can buy things at a moderate price.
The temples and museum are so very badly maintained without any sign board. literally we had to spend more than one hour to find out the musical pillars at the thousand pillar mantapam. No one seems to be responsible to maintain the rich cultural heritage of this great city.

Didn't like the open money looting inside Mandir campus by so called sevadars. Mandir management should look into behaviour of inside sevadars and stop taking money illegally without a proper reciept and passing on general visiitors through so called vip routes. This makes devotees to think that in Hindu temples money makes difference and dietiese prefer a devotee with money to give darshan. Devotees who can't pay or do not want to pay illegal money to sevadars are the last people to be allowed for darshan.

Madurai is famous for Temple and food.
Madurai is famous for Temple and food. Local corporation should take care for cleanness of the city. Auto fare is horrible even for short distance. Even after booking through OLA, auto people are demanding extra amount, since we want to go for urgent work, forced to pay extra amount. OLA has to take serious action on local auto people. all most every auto people are demanding extra amount even though booked through OLA

I recently stayed at this wonderful hotel in Madurai, and I couldn't be happier with my experience. The place was incredibly spacious, neat, and clean—perfect for a family vacation. It truly felt like a proper family house, making it a comfortable and relaxing stay.
A special mention to the owner, Simon, whose hospitality was exceptional. He went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed, and his warm, welcoming nature added to the charm of the place. Highly recommend this spot for anyone visiting Madurai!
