The Hornbill Camp (/Amritara) is a really special place. The surroundings are beautiful and Suresh and the team are very kind, knowledgeable, and helpful. Easy to arrange a tour of the bird sanctuary, but even walking around the property we saw so much (including a visit from the hornbills)! At night we could hear wild elephants on the riverbank. Rooms were clean and comfortable, and the food was delicious - the fish curry with tapioca was one of the best meals we had in Kerala!

Even though there were some problems, they were corrected immediately. They were a lot of mosquitoes. Immediately after reporting, they brought in Mosquito repellents. That helped.
The Kettle to boil the water was not working. They brought in a replacement immediately. The staff and attendees were friendly.

Kotamangalam is relatively tourist free, it was a pleasure to visit and to be in a natural environment. The services are limited, restaurants may not be as clean as western people are used to. The people are friendly and helpful. Birdwatching is very good, for this reason alone I will return to visit.
