We were 2 girls travelling to Kashi for the first time and had a good stay at the property! The hotel is 5min walk from Assi ghat and Kashi Vishwanath mandir is also a 10-15min rickshaw ride away. Overall can say it is pretty centrally located. You can easily find e-ricks right outside the hotel for your city tour. Staff is excellent!! They made our stay extremely comfortable, catered to all our requests with a smile on their face. They helped us navigate through the city, the auto walas can really charge and quote you exorbitant prices the staff made sure we knew the fare before hand to negotiate. We were to leave for Ayodhya early morning by 7.30am and Ajay made sure he packed our breakfast for the journey. Would recommend booking this stay if you are looking for a decent stay in close proximity of most places.
P.S - do try their coffees!!

Depends on individual’s purpose of the visit.
Depends on individual’s purpose of the visit. We wanted darshan of a few temples and taste the local food, and some shopping. Accomplished those in our two day, two night stay.
Old town while having the historical feel and charm, mostly filthy, vehicle drivers coming after us from one direction, the “priest” service folks attacking in another direction, beggars from another direction and then above all of that, the vehicle traffic in the narrow alleys, constant blowing of vehicle horns: just exhausting. Most of the local temple priest services, beggars, drivers just want free money and more if they spot us as non-locals! We managed to ignore all of that and still managed to accomplish what we wanted from the visit.

The city does have a vibe.
The city does have a vibe. But its very hectic visiting there. Everyone seems to be in a hurry, everything is in a rush. Every single place is heavily crowded, there is no crowd management at all. The roads, the streets, the temples, the ghats, every place has zero cleanliness and is filthy. The only places those are worth visiting are the Kashi Vishwanath Corridor, Mani Karnika Ghat and Assi Ghat. These are the newly refurbished and revamped place so they are comparatively better than the remaining 99% of the city. It is a nightmare for old people and/or handicapped people who cant walk long distances. There is nakabandi (Barricade) almost daily, hundreds of metres before any significant place like the Kashi Temple, Dashashvamedh Ghat, etc. If you cant walk in a heavy crowd for atleast a kilometre then Varanasi is a no go for you, you need to keep walking for kilometres straight. No autorickshaws or cabs are allowed anywhere near such places. The place I loved the most was Sarnath. It is the most peaceful, serene and worth visiting place in all of Varanasi. It costs around 1500 INR for a round trip but please take an extra day to visit Sarnath. After staying in the hustle bustle of the city, you will love walking in the ancient Buddhist ruins of Sarnath, a candy for your eyes.

Loved the energy and vibrant environment.
Loved the energy and vibrant environment. So much of history. Must visit - KV temple, Sarnath, Ganges boat cruise, Arti - AM and PM
Eat out - Hing Kachori, Chat, Malaiyyo, Lal Peda and Laxmi toast and Chai.
Similar to other cities in India - largely north India but maybe I am not aware - big mismatch between demand and supply.
Infra on ground hasn’t just kept up pace with demand. Take an auto or simply walk !
Admin needs to have better , proactive traffic management , crowd control and parking !
Perhaps a leaf out of managing Vaishno Devi (caveat - last visit was 22 years ago ! )

Varanasi is a place where people can visit multiple times.
Varanasi is a place where people can visit multiple times. It has different vives altogether and is considered one of the oldest living cities in the World. I would again and again visit Varanasi and stay for much longer period (at least 15-20 days) to see and understand the lanes and by lanes and learn about the ancient culture of Indian society. Varanasi is rich with culture and heritage preserving from ancient India on the banks of the holy River Ganges.
