It was wonderful! Compact, with everything you need.
My only problem, and many places have this problem, is that the rooms need luggage racks so one doesn’t have to get down on the floor to get in the closet.

The host, Bernard, was fantastic. Not only did he provide a well-furnished, clean place to stay, but he grew up in the area and gave us great tips on things to do and see and places to eat.

Rathmullan was good base for seeing things of citizen science interest. This included bird watching in the beach areas and Rathmullan Wood Nature Reserve. We did some bird surveys during our week stay which we will feed into UK databases. We also were able to visit spots of outstanding geological interest near Fanad Head and Portsalon. We enjoyed our two visits to the Glenveagh National Park.

It's a beautiful location with a lovely beaches and lots of native woodland. It's very popular for families during the summer months but great for a relaxing break out of season. Scenic drives, walks and lovely eateries close by.

Rathmullan is small and quiet with its own sandy beaches and walks. it is a great location from which to explore the coastline along the Atlantic Drive and Wild Atlantic Way visiting places such as Downings, Fanad Head and Portsalon etc. Belles Kitchen is a great place for breakfast and lunch. The Blue Goat in Ramelton serves the best coffee and has amazing cakes and sweets.

If you plan to stay, we found the Pubs, cafes and restaurants to be unpredictable during low season and shouldn’t be relied upon. They didn’t open according to Google/website times (or didn’t open at all) - particularly early/mid week nights, would be open but weren’t serving food or the places stopped serving food after 7/8pm - we found 3 places in the immediate area so very limited choice, only the most expensive served until 8:45. If we stayed again we would find a place to self cater, eat early or eat/book elsewhere (eg letterkenney)
