Malahide is a fantastic little beach town with great access to Dublin City via The Dart train, right in town. The most fun music bars, many lovely restaurants are all within walking distance. A beautiful beach nearby to take a stroll on. Malahide Castle is a 5 minute walk from the town center. The castle stands on beautiful grounds with Avoca shop and cafe for some local artist retail therapy and a nice cup of tea. Can’t go wrong in Malahide.

Malahide is a great spot in Ireland.

Malahide is a great spot in Ireland. Walkable, great pubs (especially Gibney's) and lovely restauarnts - especially nice Italian! If you want the gossip - go to Gibney's early in the day and chat wth the bartenders, you will soon find out what is ahppening in the area... Good fun.

Malahide is a cute village on the Irish Sea.

Malahide is a cute village on the Irish Sea. It has a variety of restaurants, pubs, and shops. It's a very easy town to walk around. Public transportation to Dublin or nearby towns is readily available.

The village is quite pretty with many old houses.

The village is quite pretty with many old houses. It is clean but in August quite busy. Traffic can be slow moving through the town. The beach was disappointing but Portmarnock beach a couple of miles south is very good. There are many restaurants which provide a variety of choice although there is a preponderance of Italian dishes. The views out to sea are good and walking around the town is interesting.

I'm not familiar with the area, trip was for a wedding with a couple of days added on. Transport was slow. Nowhere locally to leave a suitcase on departure day. The train station officer allowed us to leave it for a few hours. We enjoyed a tour around Malahide Castle and a stroll around the gardens. Lots of pubs if that's your thing. I don't drink. Not knowing the area I am unlikely to visit there again. However, if you want a base for travel into town, it's fine. Travelling inland is tricky unless you travel by the Luas on the old line towards Sandyford. We got taxis everywhere as the wedding was nearby, as were a couple of family visits. If going out, definitely plan your travel to reduce frustration. It is cheap though and taxis are not extortionate either, as fares strictly by the meter. Just book ahead if on a deadline :-)

Best Irish breakfast cooked by the lovely Eithne...fresh fruit...yogurt..cereal..tea..coffee..lovely. Friendly couple with a huge plot with rooms to share their home. Eithne will look after your needs and Gerry will undoubtedly show you his bar and excellently kept and served Guinness. Like any Irish people they will talk to you for hours and give advice on where to visit. The rooms are nice and clean and warm. Short walk into town. Sauna would be good guys :)

Host was very friendly and met us when we arrived. The rooms and bathrooms were clean and well-prepared. The downstairs common area was stocked with coffee, tea, and a few snacks. The location was within a ten-minute walking distance to downtown Malahide and the beach but also only a 15 minute drive to the Dublin airport.

Beautiful room - lovely décor, spacious, comfortable bed. Close proximity to Dublin Airport (10-15 mins drive) which was perfect for us as we were flying out next morning. Several eating places in Malahide village a short drive away. Highly recommend.
