Staff was very friendly and made us feel very welcome. My partner also phoned ahead and told them the night we'd be staying was my birthday, so they went out of their way to give me a birthday cake/brownie. Very much appreciated!

What a great stay!!! Brenda the owner of the B&B is fabulous!!! From the minute we arrived, she was so personable. She fixed us tea and coffee with a biscuit and slice of pie. She sat with us and chatted. Such a nice time. The room was large and lovely. Bed was comfortable with a nice size bathroom. Breakfast was delicious and we enjoyed the other guests. Brenda was equally as lovely in the morning. We so enjoyed Brenda and our stay!! Thank you
Bally mote is a small town with a big heart; close to Sligo...
Bally mote is a small town with a big heart; close to Sligo and many other visitor attractions. It is an ideal base for those taking part in the Annual Sligo Camino which is a one day trek of 36 kms run by the Coolaney Community. This takes places every year on the first Saturday in July.
The Coach House Hotel in the centre of the town has very good food; I have stayed there several times. Nearby is the Eagles Flying Centre which houses a number of Birds of Prey who are the main attraction .Well worth a visit if you like to spread your wings with the real thing!

It is a good place to stay if you want to visit Sligo Town...
It is a good place to stay if you want to visit Sligo Town but you find that all of the accommodation in Sligo Town is either fully booked or too expensive. You most definitely need a car though.
By car, Sligo Town is approx 25 minutes away, which I think is fine, considering you can find accommodation in Ballymote for about half the price of a budget-priced guesthouse in Sligo Town. There is a train station in Ballymote, which is only two stops away from Sligo Town (about 25 minutes). But based on our experience, the train seemed to be extremely unreliable, being delayed by about two and a half hours (we were told) on one of the days (we didn't need to catch it that day though, my son just wanted to see it arrive at the station). And then it was delayed by 40 minutes the very next day (when we were actually using it). So I would not want to be relying on it as our only means if transport.

Lovely quiet little town but hard to judge during a pandemic. There are shops and restaurants but most were still closed. We were attending the White Hag event at the brewery so we ate and drank there. You can walk almost anywhere in Ballymote, weather permitting.

i would highly recommend the coach house hotel as the venue is very comforting and relaxing in an ideal location for exploring co.sligo. the staff are very welcoming and provided me with invaluable information regarding local tourist attractions. all of the meals were very tasty and were great value for money.
Fantastic old cottage oozing with character. The owner Roderick was very friendly and greeted us at the main house on arrival and showed us to and around the cottage. The cottage is located on a large historic estate with interesting walks and a Templar Castle from the 12th Century, all of which we were able to explore during our stay. It is a very relaxing cottage to stay at and makes a perfect base to explore the surroundings. Sligo town is just a 20 minute drive away and Ballymote is just a short drive away to get any provisions.
The breakfast was outstanding with a great choice and beautifully prepared. The hosts are an exceptional couple and nothing was too much trouble. On the first morning owing to a 5.00am start for an adventure day the host Peter, put together a bag of goodies to replace the breakfast that I wouldn't be there to sample. The standard of the accommodation is equivalent to a 5 star Hotel in one of the worlds biggest cities
The peace no nobody near you, it was a big house children could run around, we had the keash caves on our doorstep which we walked up beautiful views . The village of ballymote 10-15 away, where there are a few shops. If you prefer more shops you could travel further to a carrick on shannon for more of selection of shops or even sligo town.
It was self service just had a coffee..
Ann the host went out of her way and drove me into Markee hotel from bnb.She was very friendly lady who couldn't have done any more to make feel welcome.
